~ Ebony ~
"For once, let's just be happy. Happy together. Okay?"
I looked at Caesar who was standing across from me with pleading eyes.
My heart aches because I know I'm hurting him.
I hate that I'm hurting him.
I hate hurting anyone.
But it seems like I always do.
Whether it's Caesar, or Jacob, or Angela.
Someone always ends up getting hurt and it always has something to do with me.
I want to be with Caesar. So badly.
I just don't want to hurt anyone else in the process.
I just want to be happy.
Why can't I just be happy?
I looked down, sighing. "I promise, Caesar. It won't be for long."
Just by looking at him, I could tell his heart sunk.
He then shook his head sadly.
"I'm tired of waiting, Ebony..." He said, letting go of me.
"What... What do you mean?" I asked, immediately feeling troubled by his words.
Caesar shrugged weakly.
"If you can't choose us, then..." He trailed off as my eyes widened slightly.
No...
"B-But I am, I just-" "Except you're not." He retorted as tears started to well in my eyes.
No, Caesar...
Please...
Caesar turned around to leave as anxiousness swept over me.
"W-What happened to however long it takes?" My voice cracked.
He stopped walking, taking a deep sigh. He then turned his body around slightly to face me.
"I guess I didn't think it'd take you that long to choose me... Like I chose you."
I felt a tear roll down my cheek.
No please...
"What makes this even more painful is, you haven't even said the words." He mumbled sadly.
Before I could respond, he quickly left the house, closing the door behind him.
I felt my heart break as I covered my mouth, trying to quiet my small cries.
"N-No C-Caez, wait..." I called out, even though he obviously couldn't hear me.
"I-I do... I-I... I do love you!" I cried out, running over and opening the door.
"C-Caesar!" I called again, but his truck had already started to drive off.
Tears pouted out of my eyes as I held onto my chest.
After a moment, I closed the door, leaning against it as I cried.
I ruined it.
I ruined everything.
I should've told him.
I should've told him I love him.
"Ebony..."
I turned around to see Huey and Riley standing on the stairs. It's obvious that they had heard what happened.
They both looked at me sympathetically as I attempted to wipe away my tears.
