Appearance:

META shipgirls resemble their regular counterparts in physical appearance, albeit with noticeable differences such as paler skin tone, as is the case with and , and a more mature look noticeable on the face and eyes. All of them wear clothes that are similar to their counterparts, but they are burnt, torn, and faded, suggesting they come from a place of war. Some of the META shipgirls' clothes are also much more decorated and adorned, as is the case with , and 's clothes, while some are completely altered in appearance, like with 's clothes having a unique blue energy radiance.

Their rigging are also unique in that they appear futuristic, as is with Gneisenau META's rigging, or ancient and alien-like, as is with 's.

The overall design for each META shipgirl adheres to a similar, almost uniform theme, consisting entirely of a red-gray-black color scheme that fits their war-scarred appearance.

Personality:

Unlike the regular shipgirls whose personalities vary widely, with some being courteous and respectful, others mischievous and immature, META shipgirls carry an almost-consistent and uniform tone.

While not entirely stripped of who they are, META shipgirls possess a cold and more mature personality that separates them from their counterparts. They speak without faltering and are direct and clear with the Commander whenever they are interacted with. All of them also commonly speak in a subtle past tense, indicating that they are more knowledgeable than their counterparts and could potentially come from the future.

Most interesting is how their newly-developed maturity has altered their core character. A great example of this is how different Helena META is from in-terms of dialogue. Helena's lines indicate she is shy and traumatized from battle, her mind wandering off sometimes when interacted with. But Helena META is completely different; her lines indicate she is calmer, more omniscient, and wary of power wielders - a significant contrast to Helena herself. Another example is how different Ark Royal META is from . Both shipgirls love Destroyers, but while Ark Royal is lustfully obsessed with them, Ark Royal META is more motherly and protective of them.

Story:

The sirens had won, humanity was gone, Azur Lane has fallen, only 5 shipgirls remained to finish what they've started. To end it all. They had nothing to lose, not anymore. They fought until the very end. Seeking and hunting down every last siren until there was only one left standing. The one behind it all. The one that brought the fall of humanity. The one that made them lose everything they loved and hated. The Empress, Arbiter 1. Thus, their final battle took place, they've fought her non-stop for days on end. The hatred, anger, bloodlust, every emotion that they had held back was brought out which gave them the drive to keep fighting. Or perhaps it was the adrenaline. No matter the case, the fight kept on to the very last moment. The empress however had one last trick up her sleeve. She glowed, disappearing into particles, and out came a giant black mental cube floating in the sky with an ominous glow. The 5 ships looked upon the cube with a irritated frown, they had expected nothing less from the one that brought chaos to their world. One of the girls then raises her bow and summons a blue arrow, aiming it at the cube. Once she releases this arrow, everything will be over. Another girl stopped the archer, confusing the others, she then speaks, "It was an honor fighting alongside with all of you, ********." Although shocked from hearing their true name once more, they too bid their farewells to each other. And so, with determination and without regret or hesitation left in them, the arrow was released. Silver and dark blue energy swirled around the glowing arrow and flew toward the cube. The cube was shot and exploded. The 5 girls were then engulfed by the light. The sirens, the bane of their miserable lives, was finally defeated. The 5 had avenged their nations, their people, their family. They've won, but at what cost.

But is it truly the end of their story?

*might make 4 as 4 horsemen than 5* idk
