‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾ CHAPTER 20 ☽༓・*˚⁺‧͙
“Do you know where we’re going, Toti?” tanong ni Bran kay Adrik. “Why Toti Klaus not coming with us?”
“Because he’s afraid of riding a boat,” sabi ni Adrik.
“Sakay tayo boat?” Mas lalong na-excite ang anak ko.
“Are you afraid, too?”
“I’m not takot. I haven’t ridden one yet, but I want to.”
I just found it difficult to relax as my thoughts were all over the place, and I was unsure of where to start to solve these worries.
Vadik has been quiet since earlier. I know he usually doesn’t speak if you don’t ask him, but I feel like he doesn’t want to talk to me.
If I hadn’t drunk so much, I wouldn’t be feeling so sleepy when I entered in his room. He rested in the guest room. But when I woke up, my head was pounding. The pain eased a bit when I saw breakfast ready on the table beside the bed, and there was even hangover tea.
The brief relief I felt lost its significance when Rosa greeted me as I exited the room. She mentioned that Senior Rion was requesting my presence.
Ako lang.
Vadik didn’t even know about this. Or anyone in his family, aside from Vitto.
Pinapasok ako sa parang office. Nakaupo si Senior Rion sa sofa doon at kanina pa yata ako hinihintay. May dalawang tasa na nakahanda sa table. He had a cup filled with what appeared to be an herbal drink, whereas I had coffee. But it seemed like my stomach couldn’t tolerate it.
Nagmano ako out of respect. “Merry Christmas, sir.”
“You can call me Dedu,” sabi niya pero walang kahit anong emosyon akong nababasa.
I swallowed. “Dedushka” is a Russian word and it means grandfather.
Kumakalabog nang sobrang bilis ang puso ko. “Yes, dedu...”
I can’t explain it, but his presence is undeniably frightening and daunting. By his gaze alone, one feels compelled to comply. I understand why his whole family is scared of him.
Saka niya lang ako nginitian. I recognize the sincerity in his smile, yet I can’t shake off the fear. I don’t know why he wants to talk to me.
