Kiya sat in the waiting room, staring straight ahead as she was zoned out, bouncing her leg.
Everyone around her conversated as the tension in the room was thicker than thick.
Melody and Jaxon tried to talk as much as they could with the receptionist, trying to receive updates on Zyaire but they were getting none.
Nolani and Nayomi sat with one another, trying to take their mind off of someone Nayomi considered to be the older brother she never had.
Nevaeh and Monique were sitting together as well. Chanel tried to stay but her parents made her come home.
Kiya's parents too went home
All Zyaire's uncles were together along with his aunts as they spoke about what was going on.
Kiya looked down at her ring, twisting it as she thought about how they were just doing this morning.
She looked up once she felt someone come and stand before her.
Her face softened as she eyed Jaxon's stressed face along with Melody's scared tear-stained face.
"You doing alright?" Jaxon asked Kiya and she just forced a smile and nodded.
"As good as I can be." Kiya shrugged, looking back down at her ring.
They felt someone else come up to them, making all three of them look over as they saw a nurse come up to them in pink scrubs.
"Are you guys Zyaire West parents?" The nurse asked, maintaining a calm tone.
"Yes we are." Jaxon nodded as Melody held onto his arm and Kiya stood up.
"Do you have any updates on him?" Melody asked hopefully.
"Can I speak with you two privately?" The nurse asked, side-eyeing Kiya as Kiya immediately mugged her.
"You can say whatever in front of her. She's his family as well." Jaxon stood up for Kiya as Kiya smiled at him before looking back at the nurse.
"Okay well I'm sorry, ma'am. The only thing we know is that his lungs collapsed and a few of the blood vessels connected to his lungs split open. We had our vascular surgeon go in and he successfully replaced the damaged vessels. We had to put him on oxygen as he currently can't breathe on his own though. Did any of you notice anything irregular in him lately? I did hear that he has bronchiectasis." The nurse asked, looking at all three of them.

"He had stopped taking his medicine for a while and we didn't know until about four weeks ago." Melody opened up and Kiya widened her eyes as she looked at Melody.
