"Kiya, chill man. He's going to be here." Key told his cousin as she paced around the back room in her cap while having a tight grip on her gown.

"He should've been here by now. He was cleared." Kiya bit her lip, checking her phone again just to see that Zyaire hadn't responded from the last time she texted him.

"Chill, bookie. Sit down before you sweat out yo lace or sum." Nevaeh said, scooting over and gently pulling Kiya down on the couch beside her.

"Where's my boyfriend?" Kiya mumbled to herself, checking her phone AGAIN.

She was nervous because Zyaire recently had his transplant surgery and it was a bit close to when their graduation was.

The doctor said he would be recovered in time and he genuinely was.

Ever since he got his new lungs it's like he's been a completely different person.

Everyone says that he had acted different in a good way since he met Kiya but this was better than that.

Zyaire felt way more alive than he had felt in years. He felt that same feeling from back when he was a child years away from hitting double digits.

Kiya had just left the hospital last night to get a good nights rest before their graduation today.

She facetimed with Zyaire all morning while she got ready before she left to head to the auditorium.

Eventually, they had to go out and take their seats and Kiya had to leave her phone in the back room so she just sucked it up, hoping Zyaire would make it.

They all took their seats and since Kiya was the only one whose last name started with an 'S' she was alone in her row.

Fortunately, all the 'W' last names were directly behind her so she was right in front of Nevaeh and where Zyaire was supposed to be.

Chanel was like 3 seats down but it was close enough for the rest of them.

Jacari and Key were farther away from them but closer to each other.

Kiya bit her lip as the principal came up and started speaking and her leg bounced nervously.

Suddenly, she felt her curls being pushed to the side and a familiar scent filled her nose as she felt three tender kisses along her neck.

"Hey, bubbles. I'm sorry I'm late. My momma had to talk to the doctor bought some stuff. Ima make it up after, okay?" Zyaire whispered quickly in her ear as she nodded her head.

Luckily, Zyaire was seated directly behind Kiya so that was good for them.

She turned her head and saw him hand her a big bouquet of white roses that had dollar bills inside of them.
