Location: School | Mr. Johnson's Class"As I was saying at the beginning of class, I will be trying a different approach on the projects this year." Mr. Johnson spoke, clicking to the next slide.
"Instead of writing a paper, I want you all to create memories in your own type of way. You will still have to present your slideshow and another piece but that other piece is up to you." He said and everyone began listening closely.
Although he was an annoying and strict teacher, everyone looked forward to Mr. Johnson's project.
It was a project he created that was worth 15% of everyone's grade. It always created genuine connections with somebody and everyone loved it.
He always had them write a paper and create a slideshow on how they connected with the person and formed a bond together.
This year, instead of writing a paper as he hated grading them, he decided on giving the students the choice to create another piece of work.
Whether it be a video, a poem, a memory box. Anything they choose they will present along with their slideshow to the class.
It was definitely an odd project for an English class but he loved seeing and reading about the connections people made with others they never thought they would meet or become friends with.
You can learn some amazing things from other people that genuinely help build your character and that's what he wants to teach his students.
"As for the partners, I will be choosing again this year. They will be on the board and if you forget, I'll post the pairs in canvas." He said as the bell rang.
"Make sure you guys exchange numbers with your partner so you can get started." He said loudly as everyone packed up and left.
Kiya was packing up, feeling a presence beside her desk. She looked up seeing Nevaeh standing there waiting and saw Yasmine waiting for her too by the door out the corner of her eye.
"Hey, you have Instagram?" Nevaeh asked once Kiya finished packing up.
"Yeah." Kiya asked, unlocking her phone and going to Instagram.
They switched phones and followed each other before handing their phones back.
"Not you famous." Nevaeh teased and Kiya laughed a little. "You busy tonight?"
"No. Why?" She tilted her head, looking at Nevaeh.
"My family try to hang out once a week and that's tomorrow so I was trying to see if you wanted to come over. We could get a head start on our project." Nevaeh explained and Kiya nodded her head.
"I have to ask my dad but I don't think he'll mind. Just as long as your family is okay with me coming." Kiya spoke as they began walking towards the door.
