Chapter 9

 Seeing things

We waited for more than an hour before the voice came back on over the intercom and told us that we could go get our supplies from the storeroom. I was upstairs in my bedroom when I heard the announcement and by the time I got to the storeroom it was already open. The guys were busy carrying the boxes of supplies to the kitchen while the girls were unpacking it. Once everything was unpacked everybody gathered around in the storeroom to collect their personal items.

I quickly scanned the items standing on the shelf and grabbed a hold of mine. I know I asked for alcohol but I couldn’t help but feel surprised that they actually got it for me, this was going to go down really good. Everybody seemed satisfied with their personal packages and started heading out to the living room. Brady had received six boxes of pizza and twelve sodas. He was smiling from ear to ear and invited us all to dig in. The food was like heaven on earth and for the first time in a long time I didn’t feel like beating the shit out of somebody.

When we were done eating Tailynn handed each of us a bottle of roll on and deodorant. Usually people will take this as an insult but everybody seemed grateful considering the circumstances.

“I really need a shower,” she announced to all of us and then headed into the kitchen to fetch the toiletries that we ordered.  The other girls followed her and soon they were placing soap, toothpaste and toilet paper in all the bathrooms.

I wondered what the time was and what the other guys were going to get up to tonight now that they have eaten but decided that I really didn’t give a shit. I got up from the sofa I was sitting on and headed upstairs to my room with my bottle of Whiskey.

Once Tailynn left to go take her shower everybody followed. I helped the girls put the supplies in the bathrooms and then hid my candy bars under my bed. They gave me a box with twenty four candy bars in which I am sure was going to come in handy. We were sure to run out of food at some point and at least then I am going to have something to eat. I will ask for something like this every week to make sure I always have something to eat.

Sage had asked for a Diary and was sitting on her bed writing happily. I smiled as I watched her, she seemed like she was in her own little world. The sun had set completely by now and the yard was left in complete darkness. I’m not sure if we had any outside lights but I wasn’t about to go outside and find out, not in the dark at least. I will check tomorrow when it was light outside.

We didn’t really get a chance to explore much today since we spent most of the day searching for the key. I felt exhausted and wanted nothing more than to take a shower and get into bed but at the moment all the bathrooms were occupied and to tell the truth I was actually happy to have an excuse to stay up. I couldn’t handle another nightmare, they were terrorizing me, all I wanted was to get into bed and have a good night’s rest.

They had gotten me a brand new skateboard just like I had asked, at first I doubted that they would get it for me but then I remembered that they stated that all special requests would be granted. It was top of the range and must have cost them quite a bit of money but I somehow doubted that it even put a dent in their pockets.

Once everybody was done eating I grabbed a hold of my skateboard and headed into the playroom which was the biggest area in the house. I didn’t have much space but I could try to land a few ground tricks at least.

I quickly hurried to one of the bathroom on the second floor, placed all the supplies on the cupboard next to the basin and locked the door behind me. I’ve been dying for a shower the whole day and I wasn’t going to wait a second longer. I placed the extra supplies the cupboard and grabbed one of the closed tooth brushes that was in the medicine cabinet.

I quickly opened it, throwing the cardboard and plastic it was wrapped in into the waste bin. I brushed my teeth and I have to admit that I’ve never been so thankful for toothpaste before in my life. When I was done with that I turned on the water and let it run until it was warm enough to get under. I wondered if there were cameras in the bathroom and quickly looked up to see. There was one but it was angled in such a way that you wouldn’t be able to see the person sitting on the toilet. It did catch the entrance of the shower though but luckily the door was made of frosted glass so nobody would be able to see.

I grabbed a towel and moved to where the toilet was so that nobody would be able to see me and quickly slipped out of my clothes. I wrapped a towel around my body and stepped into the shower. I really didn’t mind people seeing me in my underwear but I didn’t want them to see me completely naked. It’s not that I had anything to hide, I have a perfect body and I like showing it off.

Once I was in the shower I took off the towel and hanged it on a hook on the wall next to the shower. Luckily the shower was in the corner and I suppose they had put the hook there for exactly this reason. I don’t think they would have minded the world seeing us naked, it would probably send their ratings through the roof but they at least had to give us the option.

The water felt great on my body as I rubbed myself with soap and lathered shampoo into my hair. I was going to feel like a million bucks after this. After I had scrubbed myself down a few times I rinsed the shampoo from my hair and lathered in the conditioner. I waited a few minutes, just enjoying the sensation of the warm water on my body before I rinsed off my hair and turned off the water. I reached for the towel hanging outside the shower and wrapped it around my body before stepping out.

I walked over to the medicine cabinet and took a look in the mirror, feeling irritated that I didn’t have a hair dryer. I would have to ask for one next week when we get to order our special items again. I quickly towel dried my hair and ran my fingers through it trying to get it as straight and dry as I could before leaving the bathroom.

I replaced the tile I had used for my hair on the hook and stepped back in front of mirror to take one last look at myself before leaving the bathroom. As I looked up into the mirror I saw something I never imagined possible. Instead of my own reflection looking back at me I saw two dark eyes in a pale white face staring at me from within the mirror.

I felt my body go cold under the towel as my heart leaped in my chest and a horrified scream escaped my mouth.
