Half journey we talked and the other half we slept. We found out many things about each other even if most of the time Max was asking about myself, my job and passion as a writer, till the big question came out "are you single or you found your soul mate?" I shut up and looked away "Well...have you?" He sighed "I asked first but, no I haven't yet. Maybe it's you...maybe it's me...Lord works in mysterious ways". When Max pronounced the last word, our eyes met for some seconds, while suddenly our hands slowly moved to touch "Mr Burnett, Miss Bradshaw, would you like a glass of Champagne with caviar?" the flight attendant broke the spell. Max turned after blushing to me "yes, please. Carrie, would you like any as well?" I nodded and he left us alone again. "Where are you going to present the book?" Max asked me to let us off the hook "oh, at the Librairie Delamain, the address is..." I looked for my notebook into the bag "Rue St Honoré, Madame". Max surprised me while I was scrolling through the pages "exactly! How did you know it?" I held the notebook between my hands pulling it lightly against my lip, "it is the most famous and ancient bookstore in Paris. Many ancient writers went there regularly and nowadays it is well known for meetings with the authors". I cried out "Mt Burnett, you don't stop surprising me. Are you sure you aren't a CIA agent?" Max laughed hard "Would you like me to be? Honestly, I'd love to if it meant gathering information about a charming woman like you, Miss Bradshaw..." This time Max came closer and his lips kissed my left cheek delicately, mouth-honour, giving me goose bumps "I'd never dare to kiss you before strangers, it is not a very romantic place..." I should have looked a little disappointed because he immediately whispered to my ear "it is a no only for now..."
The plane landed on time in Paris: it was almost time to say goodbye to my beautiful stranger Max...I wish we had a little more to spend together and get to know each other deeper. We followed the line to the exit door and thanked the flight assistants; Max walked by my side "if you like I can give you a rideto the hotel. Steve and the car will be waiting outside the airport therefore you don't need to call a cab..." How could I refuse an invitation to those eyes? "I'll put handcuffs on if it makes you feel safer!" he joked. I gave him my hand "Ok, but be careful, my mobile is traceable if you had any idea to kidnap me..." I smirked as his shook it, then we heard the buzzer from the luggage claim area – ours was nr 7. Our luggage was the first on the carousel:Max was surprised to see my 2 suitcases "wow! You look like a princess, Mrs Bradshaw..." I answered with a mischievous look "Shall I take it as a compliment or else, Mr Burnett? Precious clothing needs a comfortable room, if you think about Givenchy tees..." Max helped me carrying one "you're totally right..." At the arrivals area I identified immediately the man who could be Max' driver Steve: he was dresses in a black suit, white shirt, black tie and a chauffeur's cap, moreover he was holding a paperboard with "MR BURNETT" written on in capital letters. Max waved his hand to get his attention and Steve touched the tip of his cap in return, when we reached him they shook the hands "welcome back, Sir. I hope you had a nice trip", said Steve, "couldn't be more pleasant" Max replied looking at me, "oh, nice to meet you Mrs..." "Bradshaw" Ianswered blushing a little. "Mrs Bradshaw needs a ride to the hotel" added Max,Steve nodded then we followed him to the parking area; a tinted windows longblack Mercedes was waiting for us. "Where are we going, Carrie?" I pulled outmy mobile from the bag to check the name of my hotel "To Hotel Costes,please..." Steve commented slowly "we're going the same way, as usual Sir". I couldn't believe to my ears as I saw Max smirking "are you kidding me?" "I'm not. When I come to Paris I always have a reservation at Costes" it was my turn to be amazed at that pot twist "it looks like our meeting won't end that early, Mrs Bradshaw!" whispered Max while he opened the car door for me.
And he was so right. We were on the same floor, my room opposite to his. As faith wanted. "Key nr 6 and 9. Nice match! Two magic numbers...." Max carried my suitcase inside as I opened the door "I think we both need a shower but...may I ask if you would go out for dinner with me? I am free tonight; my commitments start only tomorrow morning..." I was tired but not to the point of skipping a meal, as I was also very hungry. I accepted then Max left the room "waiting for you downstairs let's say at 8?" "Perfect. I'll be there and...See you later" our eyes didn't want to part till we closed our doors.
