Episode 9 | Consequences

"A suspension!?"

Sunshine sighed as the other two ghoulettes failed to contain their shock. "Yep. Two weeks: not aloud outside the ministry building. Started about a week ago though, when he first found out, so only one week left." Cirrus was staring at her in disbelief. "He would have made it longer, but we have another show at that café place soon."

"Longer!?" Cumulas yelled. She knew how bad what Sunshine had done was, but two weeks was already a very excessive punishment. So more would have just been outrageous.

Sunshine chuckled slightly, "Well, it's better than whatever the Prime ghoul had planned for me. He was furious! Papa told him off for yelling at me, called him by his first name and all."

The other two gasped at that, mumbling little 'noo's and 'did he really's. Sunshine grinned, "Councilor Shay honestly looked more offended that the Prime ghoul did. Looked as if he'd just been slapped in the face, he did." They all laughed at the thought, a brief moment of joy to brighten the inevitably dim two weeks Sunshine was about to face. Suspension was a big deal and it was very likely that some of the siblings had already heard about it. She would be getting no peace from them, that was for sure.

"So, are you still aloud to leave the lair, or is that a no from Papa too?" Cirrus questioned, looking up at her on the couch from her position on the floor.

Sunshine smiled, "Yeah, I'm okay to leave the lair. I just can't leave the building and go into the grounds or the abbey is all."

Cirrus glanced over at Cumulas for a moment before turning her attention back to the multi ghoulette, "So...breakfast in the canteen?" Sunshine giggled and nodded, pushing herself up and following the other two out of the lair.

They strolled down the corridors towards the canteen, chatting and laughing as they went. Sunshine caught a few strange glances she was being given from the siblings walking past, but they weren't confronting her or talking about her at all so she wasn't too bothered.

Cirrus pushed open the double door and rushed into the canteen. Quite a few heads turned since the room was mostly filled with siblings. The ghouls would often get snacks or precooked food, if they didn't want to cook anything themselves, from the canteen but it still always seemed to catch the siblings off guard when they appeared.

Sunshine and Cumulas hurried over to catch up with Cirrus, who was already grabbing food and collecting it on her tray. Once the three of them had gotten all that they wanted, they spotted an empty table close to the door and sat down around it to eat. That made the siblings even more intreged then before because the ghouls would often just take their food back to their lair so seeing them eating in the canteen was a very infrequent occurance.

That was mainly due to the inconvenience of the masks though. Ghouls wouldn't often make the effort to eat around anyone who wasn't direct family, because it meant having to eat with a mask still on. Back in their home dimension, if friends were to get together to hang out and ended up getting food, they would always go into a private spaces to eat so that they could remove their masks and make it easier. But, although not being blood related, the ghoul packs in the Clergy did often feel like family so they would almoust always make the effort to eat together, despite the inconvenience.

Sunshine noticed Cirrus glancing around suspiciously. She'd had an incident before where a siblings had tryed to unmask her while she'd eaten. It had caused chaos in the Council for a while, due to the blatant lack of respect for ghoulish culture, but the issue had ended with the firing of the sibling who'd done it as well a more negative mass where Copia had addressed the incident in front of the whole ministry and reinstated the consequences of disrespecting the ghouls firmly.
