"Spring?"
"Summer."
"Dammit." Pyro sighed, taking another sip from his glass and grimacing at the taste. "Fuck, I forget how bad that is every time."
The other four ghouls laughed, joking and mocking his reaction.
They'd decided to play a game while they waited for the Clergy ghouls to wake up and Quedda had suggested a game to test how well they knew each other. Someone would get asked a question about the one asking and they'd then try to answer correctly or else they'd have to take a sip of white wine. It couldn't exactly be classified as a drinking game, since it would take much more than just wine to get a ghoul drunk, but they all collectively hated white wine so it was enough of a punishment to make the game exiting.
Vivaldi had just asked Pyro a question on her favorite human season, so now it was his turn to ask someone else a question about himself.
He glanced around the room, his eyes landing on the only other male ghoul in the group. "Aviici," he began, instantly grabbing the air ghoul's attention who turned and grinned at him. "When's my birthday this year?"
The other three ghouls made sounds of exitment and Aviici chuckled to himself. "Feels more like your testing to see how good I am at converting Ghoulish seasons to human years." He joked.
The room went silent as the air ghoul tryed desperately to do the calculations in his head, muttering under his breath every now and again.
He sighed, hesitating before giving a very unsure answer. "May 5th...?"
Pyro waited, making sure to keep up the suspense for a moment longer before sighing in defeat and hearing the others cheer and laugh as Aviici made a show of moving along his seat, further away from his glass.
"Really didn't think you'd get that one." He chuckled.
Aviici smirked nervously. "Neither did I."
"Wait!" Quedda interrupted. "Sorry to mess up the order but I've got another one for Pyro that he'll really hate. It's not actually about any of us though."
Pyro hesitated, unsure of what he might be getting himself into if he agreed. But after a minute or so of consideration, he grinned, nodding and hearing Vivaldi whistle at him. Quedda's questions had been difficult enough already so they were all certain he wouldn't get this right.
She grinned back, her tail swaying a little faster behind her as she leaning against the wall of the first class cabin. "What's the name of the animal humans refer to as 'a man's best friend'?"
Pyro quirked a brow at her. "A-"
"In English."
"Oh."
Pyro instantly regretting agreeing to answer her question, hearing the others laughing hysterically at his change in tone. He'd made the mistake of mentioning to them that he often struggled to remember the English translations for animal names and would sometimes have to just switch back to Ghoulish and they hadn't left him alone about it since.
He paused for what felt like eternity, desperately trying to remember the word for the domesticated animal that humans seemed to love so much. He knew exactly what animal it was, but the name seemed to have slipped his mind.
He groaned, stroking a hand down his face as he continued to rack his brain for the answer. The longer he hesitated, the more the others struggled to keep back their laughter.
Pyro sighed, deciding to just guess the only animal name he could think of. It was somehow the easiest to remember. "I don't know. A cat?"
From Aviici's reaction alone, he could tell that wasn't right. The ghoul was practically falling off his chair in hysterics and Vivaldi was literally suffocating if the way she was gasping for air between each fit of laughter was anything to go by.
