Rory's perspective

And just like that, all hell breaks loose. Shira slaps Logan. I can hear him growl. "You're irresponsible and reckless! How could you be so stupid?!" She takes a heavy breath before grabbing her cigarettes and storming out.

"Logan, do you have any idea how many business deals were aligned with this occasion?! Do you?"

The man holding my hand is quick to retort. "I wasn't considering that, Mitchum! I never cared about business! That was you, all you! The only thing I care about is a life with Rory. But you won't even hear us out! What matters is that she and I adore each other. We push each other to be our best selves."

"Please! She's burnt out. Her career is drowning!"

Logan growls. "You don't know anything about her. She has fire, she has a light inside her. You could have destroyed her spirit, but you didn't. All you've ever cared about is business. Me, on the other hand? I love Ace so much it hurts. I'd die for her and our baby! That is something you will never understand!"

"She's below you! She's not cut out for this life! You know it."

"Okay! That's enough! Who cares about credentials? She's always been more than anything to Logan! You both know that! They love each other and this child! That's all that matters!" She exhales. Then turns our direction. "Is this real?"

We nod. Honor squeals, and a gleeful giggle passes her lips. "Oh my God. This kid is going to be so cute and incredibly spoiled! How far along are you?

"Thirteen weeks, four days."

"Do you have anything for the baby yet?"

"No. Not yet. I-it's too soon."

"When it is the appropriate time, you and I should go shopping!"

I laugh. I don't know what to say at all. We could. She could. I can deduce her excitement. But what do I say?

"Honor, you and Ace have," he pauses in contemplative word-searching, "different styles."

"True. But I would love to spend time with you! What do you think? There's a diner in my town called Luke's. He makes awesome coffee."

The grin widens and her eyes spark. I've never seen anyone this excited. "A day with you? That sounds full of fun. I'm in."

"Me too."

Shira waltzes from the balcony. There's something in her hand. It's a small book. Mitchum takes it as Shira enters the kitchen He looks directly towards us before taking the white, slim, and flexible paperback. "We are willing to pay your medical bills, for the child."
