Everyone was back at Granny's, safe and sound. Henry, Regina, Robin and Roland were sitting in a booth together. The youngest was starting to fall asleep.
David and Mary Margaret were leaving. They were tired, just a baby Neal was.
Killian and Emma were sitting in a booth too. Emma leaning on her pirate, holding his hand.
"Everything is fine, for real," she declared. "Not even a Dark One. Can you believe this ?" she asked.
"Actually it's pretty hard to believe," he answered and she laughed a little. "A quiet moment," he added.
"I really love those," she responded and looked through his eyes before kissing him.
Suddently, the lights flickered and everyone looked around. Everything seemed fine. Emma shrughed her shoulders. It was probably nothing.
* * *
They were both sitting on the little balcony of their appartment. They had a great view of the docks and the ocean.
"I like this view better than the one we had in Boston," said Killian.
"The ocean's better than buildings," answered Emma.
"I told Henry I'd go sail with him tomorrow after his school, unless, you need help here with the paint,"
"No, it's okay. He loves to sail and we're almost finished here," she declared.
"Emma ?" he then asked and she turned her head to see him.
"Huh ?"
"I never really.. asked you about this," he said, pointing at the shoelace around her wrist. "I know you always wear it, but I never knew what it meant,"
"It was Graham's," she answered. "Its the only thing I kept from him, except the walkies. It became kind of a habit to wear it, just like it used to be with Neal's keychain. I guess it was kind of to remind me not to trust love and not to fall in love, because I would loose everything, again," she sighted, thinking about this rather sad part of her life that was behind her now that she had Killian. "But I don't think this of love now. I know I won't loose you, and I know I don't have to fear my feelings for you," she turned her look from the shoelace to his eyes.
"You're right, you won't loose me, Swan," he answered and smiled.
"We're better off at surviving together," she added.
A little later they went back in the appartment. Emma immediatly went to bed and Killian took a shower. When he came back to their room, he found her asleep, with the sheets on her side.
She is so beautiful he thought and smiled.
He went to her, put the sheets over his body and kissed her forehead. Then, he realised that she took off the shoelace from her wrist. He saw the shoelace on the table next to the bed.
Killian understood that Emma was really moving forward with him, that he was more than she ever had, in a relationship.
He lied down next to her and she turned around to lean on him. She grabbed his hand.
"I thought you were sleeping," he said.
"I sleep better when you're around," she answered.
