This was actually meant to be the first chapter. It was the first one shot of this book that I wrote but now it's here. I can't remember the name of the vlog I took inspiration from this from but it was one of diannes leading up to her book launch (I think).

"Shes in her dressing room.....by herself"
Diannes partner for strictly on this particular year was a nice man. He was young, very talented and an overall sweetheart. He had definitely captured the hearts of all the mums across the nation over the course of the 8 weeks he had been on the show. 8 weeks that wouldn't grow into 9 or 10, or even more.
It had been a pretty unexpected dance off. They were in the top half of the leaderboard with an impressive score of 33, but after a small stumble in their dance it was obvious they were going home. They had made a mistake and that simply wasn't acceptable when trying to fight for your place.

"I know, she erm...she did text me. She seemed upset and sent lots of angry red faced emojis"
She hadn't once left her dressing room since leaving the dance floor after their last dance together. She hadn't let anyone in. A few words had been muttered through the door from her friends, her partner and producers but she hadn't opened the door. She didn't want to. She didn't want to leave strictly. Not now. Not a before blackpool, not when he was a potential finalist and not on what she knew would be her last series on the show.

It was decided joe would be called. It was getting late and she hadn't spoken or shown any signs she would be unlocking that door. He was the only one she would be willing to speak to, and then once they had spoken, they could go home together. Nobody would have to worry that she was alone whilst she was feeling like this.

But as joe walked along the corridors of elstree studios with her dance partner, unlike everyone else, he knew she wouldn't want to talk. She was quiet when she was upset. She at times could be a very emotional person. She was very sensitive, he had seen it before and sensitive dianne was isolated. She would shut off, being too busy in her own thoughts to do anything else. She didn't like to talk when she was upset. She kept it quite to herself. It was something joe had learned to accept. He liked caring for her. He liked to listen to her ramble so he could figure out the best way to help but when something bad happened for dianne, she often worked it out herself in her own time. She didn't want help.
She wouldnt want to talk to him tonight. But at least she could go home with him and not be alone.

"We have tried to get her out but shes not really....she hasn't said a word. We havent even heard a sound from that room"
He told joe as he saw her dressing room door absolutely swarmed. No wonder she didn't want to come out of that room. She did love her friends and the people she worked with but during a time like this, she didn't want to see them. This was hard for her.

He knocked on the door. It was a hard squeeze to get past everybody. Her dressing room seemed to be the place to party on this night but it shouldn't of. For her, this was a big deal. Strictly was much more than a job. It was her life and joe knew she was probably thinking alot about how she wouldnt be returning. They had agreed she wouldn't go back, and not lightly either. But the two of them were reaching a crucial point in their relationship. 6 years. And she wasn't getting any younger. It was time to prioritise their future together rather than her work. This time in her life was over. Officially.

"Di, it's me"
Consciously, he didn't use her childhood nickname, worried it would upset her even more and remind her of her family who were 9000 miles away and who she missed dearly.

She looked sad when she opened the door. Worried and panicking from the array of people stood right infront of her, she looked round at them all.

Why wouldn't they just leave her be?
