This is my final installment of the 'mama' series. My idea for this was to capture the emotions of a mother watch her daughter become a mother too. I hope you've seen the common theme in these chapters. From dianne mentioning she wouldn't be scared to talk to joe about pregnancy, to then being in a situation where she actually did and now this chapter but seeing it through the eyes and pov of rina rather than joe or dianne. This is set quite far into the future compared to the other 2 chapters which have a 6 month time difference. I hope you enjoy this.
I've got the first of my suggestions for the next chapter, so keep around.Rina could of sworn she almost jumped out of her skin at the sound of what seemed to be a big banging on her and marks bedroom door. Even though she knew in reality that it had been a gentle tap on the oak wood, her deep sleep state made her belive it was much louder than it had really been. It had woken her up...of course. And she turned over, fiddling with the switch on the bedside lamp in attempt to see what was going on and she was soon faced by the young brunette man she had learnt to love over the past few years, the man who her daughter seemed to love too.
"Hey...erm, dots in labour"
He whispered quietly noticing how Mark was still fast asleep next to his wife, but rinas excitement and also shock definitely startled him and woke him up."Is she? Is she ok?"
Rinas legs came round to the other side of the bed and she sat up. The news that her daughter was in labour was definitely scary. Having given birth to 3 children herself she knew how hard labour could be but in reality she knew her question had a level of stupidity. Of course dianne was ok. She was tough, she always had been. Not only did she have joe by her side to get her through this but she had already done this once before. She had given birth to mark and rinas 5th grandchild two years before and she had absolutely breezed through it. Rina had no concerns that with her second baby, dianne would absolutely smash it but that didn't stop her from feeling a massive sense of overprotectiveness."Yeah she's ok. We're just going to go to down to the hospital. We just wanted to let you know because...obviously you're looking after Harrison"
With the news of diannes second pregnancy, Mark and rina had made the journey over to the uk to meet their next grand baby. Having booked a 6 week trip, diannes due date fell right in the middle which couldn't get more perfect. They had come to meet their new granddaughter and also it provided a comforting feeling to dianne who knew that her little boy would be safe whilst she and joe stayed in hospital for however long, because he would stay with her parents. She had asked them if they would look after Harrison whilst she went off and had the baby, and of course Mark and rina had said yes. Now it seemed to be really happening."Oh, well good luck Joseph. We both hope it all goes well"
Rina stood up from the bed, going over to meet her son in law, arms wrapping around in. She had no doubt he would be absolutely perfect and do everything her dot needed him too. She had seen how he cared for her over the years and from what dianne had told her about the birth of Harrison, joe had been nothing but helpful and caring."Thank you"
"Good luck mate"
Even though Mark was still half asleep still in bed, he could hear everything going on and hoped to god everything would go ok."Thanks, we'll keep you updated with everything happening. We should have her here by the morning"
He smiled, as best as he could at the ungodly hour of 1am but he knew from being with dianne at Harrisons birth that her body went a million miles an hour. Her labour with him had been quick compared to other mums having their first babies. Despite that it had been beautiful. Dianne had been lucky enough to be granted her wish of the birthing pool and her whole labour had been this almost magical haven with a surprising calming atmosphere, mood lighting, soft music. It had been a very intimate affair. Just the two of them and one midwife who for the majority of it stood back and let dianne do her thing- she seemed like a natural. It had been perfect.
