I really enjoyed writing the 'mamma' 3 part series so I decided I wanted to do something simular with joe and his dad and write from a more male/dad perspective so I hope you enjoy. I've also noticed that the private messaging on this app is gone which is not good for me because that's how I communicate with alot of you on here, so any comments from now on will be greatly appreciated because that's the only way we can chat now. I'm also looking for more ideas too, if anyone would like to suggest any. I have a few chapters written already but my motivation is dying out so I need some fresh ideas x
"Ooooo, I wonder who that could be?"
The door bell echoed through to the kitchen where joe had just put the roast potatoes into the oven, ready for the Sunday roast. Turning to his daughter, who was stood at his feet trying to persuade her daddy to let her try everything already, despite it being half cooked, her face lit up at the sound of somebody at the door.
She was only little, but bright for a 2 year old and she was already off running to open the door where her mummy had already welcomed their guest into their home."Grandad Graham!"
She threw her arms around the taller man's legs. It wasn't often they saw eachother as Graham still lived in Wiltshire but they didn't stop the grandfather-granddaughter duo from being insperable just like joe had been with his own grandad."Hello little one, wow, you've gotten big"
Graham ruffled with the small brown curls on her head, the curls she had gotten from her auntie zoe, his daughter."Because I'm 2 now"
She held up her fingers to show him, feeling very proud of herself just like dianne was as she watched on."Very impressive. I saw the pictures from your birthday, it looked like lots of fun"
Graham smiled, a part of him sad he had missed out on her birthday but he knew there was plenty more to come that would be a million times more better as she grew up and understood the magic of it all more."It was. I met peppa. But daddy said peppa is on our dinner on the sausages"
She crossed her arms, turning sad."Joe told her the pigs in blankets were peppa pig and now she's all stroppy and has told us that she strictly refuses to eat them ever again"
Dianne chirped in, a slight giggle in her voice despite joes little white lie being quite sad for a 2 year old."Well your daddy is just silly. Where is he anyway? Is he cooking my dinner?"
It was fathers day and from years of experience joe knew that his dad wasn't very materialistic. He was quite hard to buy for and so instead of any presents joe had offered to make the meal his dad was normally the pro at. A roast. With zoe and alfie and their girls on holiday, which had been a father's day present for alfie, it actually gave joe, dianne and their daughter, freya, a chance to spend some proper time with him which was rare."He's been stuck in the kitchen all morning. He'd been stressing over the potatoes"
Dianne shook her head, having watching joe fumble around with them pretty much since breakfast."Surely he can't be stressed about the potatoes when he learnt from the roast potato champion himself"
Graham giggled before making his way into the kitchen with dianne and freya, where diannes words had been right. Joe was stood at the oven watching the potatoes even though they weren't doing much yet having only been in there for 2 minutes."Oh hey dad"
Joe quickly turned and smiled his way, trying to act as if he hadn't actually been staring straight at the potatoes which he deep down knew would be perfectly fine."Hello Joseph. Stressing over the potatoes I see?"
Graham questioned, catching joe out."No, of course I'm not, I am absolutely not stressing over the potatoes. Happy fathers day by the way"
The younger man smiled, trying to hide how much he really was stressing over the potatoes.
