I actually wrote this in February, so before dianne went with thr darker routes. Seemed to be you knew before it even happened."Hey baby, oh yes I know, mamma's waking you up from your nap. It's not nice is it, but guess what? We're going shopping"
Dianne had a tendancy since the second she first met her son to talk to him like he understood everything she was saying. Like most mothers, she just did it so he could get used to the sound of her voice, but sometimes it was very excessive. But she knew no different. She was a first time mum and with her son changing by the day, she had to find new ways to keep him entertained, especially when taking him out to go shopping. It was often a chore she dreaded since having a baby but always offered to do. She knew how much joe hated it, so always went once a week to top up on any food they needed and she always seemed to do it on the one day he was working in London.
Since having their baby, he had worked from home alot more but Mondays were always his final straw days and he had to go into London, so dianne was left alone with him. Dianne didn't mind though. He reciprocated the favour and on Sunday mornings he looked after their son, whilst she went to yoga and done anything else she wanted to get done alone and without interputions. It had been a good balance and had been since they had became parents, 6 months before."Hey, hey, don't cry Mister. We'll go and get you a trolley to sit in. How does that sound?"
Dianne lifted him from his car seat, making sure to double check she had locked the car before going over to the trolley bay and picking one with the child's seat, before putting him in and making she he was safe before she even took another step."All strapped in Alex. OK, then let's go. We need to get you some little veggies for your weaning"
Once she had made sure he was all ok, dianne and Alex began their shopping trip beginning in the fruit and veg section since it was the first part of the shop.Since becoming a mum and doing her research into weaning, dianne was alot more conscious about what not just she ate, but what they ate all together as a family. She always wanted to make something for her and joe that Alex could also in some form have, so he could see that they were eating it and therefore know it was ok for him to reach out and try to feed himself. It got messy most of the time but she was ok with it. Watching Alex explore and try to feed himself was adorable and she couldn't get enough of his big blue eyes. She was absolutely in love with him, and in love with the role he had given her. The title of 'mummy' was definitely something she treasured every single day, even in those tough moments. She had always wanted to be a mum and so once she left strictly, her and joe started trying straight away. After a very quick 3 months, she was stood in their bathroom holding that all important positive test and 9 months later, they were parents. It was the best thing to ever of happened to them and they didn't know if they could get any happier. They of course had so much of their lives ahead of them, and their family wasn't complete yet but both of them felt they were at their happiest and it was clear to see. They were the most adorable little family. Just the three of them. Joe, dianne and Alex. It was perfect.
"How about we try you with some zucchini? Or courgette as your daddy would correct me"
Dianne picked one up, handing it to her 6 month old and by thr way he instantly went to bite it, which dianne had to quickly stop him from doing, she took that as a firm yes and put that in the trolley."Ooo, what about some sweet potato?"
She picked a few of them up too, already planning in her head how she could cook it and serve it to him. Some sweet potato mash would definitely be a good option rather than the chunks. She could eat it too. Or she could bake it.She went round the shop, picking up her usual items once she had picked out the vegetables for Alex's next week of weaning. When she came to the end of the shop she knew she had to get the last few bits that weren't food. Nappies. Toiletries. Stock up on some more calpol. That sort of thing.
