I didn't know whether to put a trigger on this or not and if I did what i would put it under but in the end I kinda just thought I'd mention that this chapter talks alot about bullying and it's affects.Detention.
Probably the worst place for any 'popular' year 10 boy to be spending their Friday lunchtime. Not just any Friday lunchtime either, the last lunchtime before the Christmas holidays where all of his friends would go off to spend time with their families and not see eachother for 2 whole weeks. They were all out on the football field whereas he was stuck in everyone's worst nightmare: detention. A detention over some stupid and very silly misbehaviour in his Thursday period 5 history lesson the day before with one of his least favourite teachers Mrs Jones who joe thought and believed was just a typical, middle aged moody woman with a strong dislike for the banterous boys at the back.
"Ok, so you're going to sit here at the front and I've got a work sheet for you"
Joe didn't even get a 'hello' or a 'thank you for turning up' when he arrived at Mrs jones' classroom for his detention on time too which he thought was just not fair. He didn't want to be here, yet he had made the effort to make sure he was and on time too when he could of just skived it off on the field but then again he knew Mrs Jones was pretty angry with him. He didn't understand what over. He was just having a laugh in yesterday's lesson, yet she had belived he had taken it too far and after not listening to his warnings he was now where he was.He sat down, throwing his bag onto the back of the chair, it almost slipping down and falling to the floor with how forcefully he almost chucked it from how unbothered he was feeling. He really didn't want to be here.
"This is what I want you to do. Its a revision sheet on the Elizabethan era, specifically focusing on her relationship with Mary queen of Scots"
Mrs jones explained."So my worst topic?"
Joe questioned, already feeling fed up and he hadn't even started with the unnecessary work he had been given."Yes joe, that's sort of the point of revision. To go over your worst topics. I've got you a text book to learn the information from. You must read the information and then copy the information onto the sheet. Over the holidays I'd then like you to make some flashcards on what you remember from this activity"
She explained."I have better things to do with my christmas break"
Joe sighed, already knowing making flashcards definitely wouldn't be what he would be doing over the Christmas holidays."Well I would suggest you do. You have your mock coming up in March which in reality isn't long. Now...you're in here for the full hour so I'll leave you to get too it. I'm expecting it to be complete by the end of lunchtime"
Joe could only watch her walk back to her desk and pull her lunch from her bag, whilst he was faced with the worksheet. Joe liked history but found it difficult when he had a teacher he absolutely hated. He didn't want to listen to her ramble on when he would much rather just talk to his friends which often got him into trouble. He wasn't a bad student. He was a high achiever, took part in after school clubs and was generally an all rounder, it was just sometimes he got distracted by his friends. They all got on well and all the teachers loved that but they were quite a boisterous group. Not in a bad way but they were very loud and chatty and sometimes if they got too excitable, very silly which was what had happened yesterday, leading to joes punishment of a lunch time detention on the last day of term.
Now he was sat here, going over long and confusing information about his least favourite topic, the elizabethan era. Joe was definitely much more into learning about stuff which was more modern and gory. Gangsters, wars, fighting technology, that sort of thing but because he took an interest in those topics, he was good at that and so was made to revise what didn't like so much and was also not the best at.
