A good while had passed since the interdorm Spelldrive tournament, and everyone had long healed up from then.
You hadn't told your guardian about the whole overblot accident and only played it down to a fight between students that had held you from answering the phone at the time.
On one hand, it was true that the headmage had asked to keep the whole ordeal under wraps and hidden to the public, on the other... you didn't have the heart to give your guardian yet another reason to worry about.
"Sigh..." But you couldn't deny how even now, during this rainy and dark early morning, you couldn't help but feel guilty about it.
What an intense storm...
You watched outside the window while holding a warm ceramic mug with both hands, mindlessly looking at the droplets sliding down the glass.
NRC had magic everywhere, and even the weather was controlled by it. The temperature was never too cold, nor too hot, and on the few occasions it rained, it was nothing more than a few clouds coming to water the nature around.
Yet, for some reason, this didn't feel as light to you as it actually was.
"Hurricane a comin'! Stand fast!
Secure the riggin'!"Your brows furrowed as you felt that dreadful weight coming to your chest. Was it happening again? Why won't this oppressive feeling stop?
"Look! He's breathing."
You need to calm down, get in some soothing breaths and slow your anxious heart. You simply hoped this didn't mean what you feared.
"Eric!"
But maybe that was just wishful thinking...
"A girl... rescued me."
You inadvertently gripped the small conch shell hanging around your neck. This necklace had really saved you in more than one occasion ever since it was given to you.
"She had the most... beautiful voice..."
You were really lucky to have it. But maybe you were also just as unlucky...
"My heart... Oh, how it pounds!"
Your heartbeat didn't seem to slow down anymore than the paranoid thoughts circling inside your mind did.
You attempted to take a sip of your warm drink and exhale deeply, doing your best to relax your muscles.
"Yes. I know it. The day will soon come..."
You couldn't deny the hunch telling you that sooner or later, something was going to happen... but 'you don't need to be afraid.' That's what you told yourself.
"...part of your world!"
You saw the gray clouds gradually disperse as the sun peeked from the horizon, marking a new day filled with glistening dewdrops.
Once again, there's no need to fear, as you're not alone. You have many around you that give you strength and that have helped you out through these unfortunate events... Plus, even the trio is here.
