"Good work, Jade. Did you have your talk with Kalim?"

Your whole group was currently back in the guest room where Yuu and Grim had gotten assigned, so to talk about the half eel's 'side mission'.

"Yes, sir. It was just what you expected." Aforementioned twin calmly nodded, standing in a poised manner along with you, Azul and the magicless prefect.

Meanwhile, the messier sibling was lazily sitting on the bed and Grim was perched on the nightstand... away from Floyd.

"As expected? So it means..." You perked slightly when hearing those words, arms neatly folded over your chest as you kept attentive ears.

"It's likely that Kalim is being magically mind-controlled by someone who is making him do these things." The Octavinelle vice stated, his expression serious.

"Mind control?! Is that even possible?" The magical beast exclaimed in bewilderment, ears stiffly up.

"Wait... could that be how I...?" You looked at the magicless prefect when they spoke their thoughts out loud. They were thinking of when they mindlessly agreed to a certain student's requests.

"You know how Ruggie has magic that manipulates the body? There's also hypnosis magic that takes control of a target's mind." Jade explained to the creature, using something the latter was more familiar with.

"But it requires a far higher degree of skill and magical power than its bodily counterpart. Which means very few magicians are capable of using it." He also specified, holding his chin between his thumb and forefinger.

"You gotta have skills and power on par with Azul for that." The messier sibling then mentioned while waving a hand idly.

"And even I would be hard-pressed to control living creatures with their own egos like humans." The skilled mage in question pointed out, adjusting his glasses.

"But I don't think anybody in Scarabia is half as good as you, Azul." The furred freshman commented with his paws on his hips.

"Even their own housewarden Kalim's big signature spell is just a glorified waterspout. And their vice housewarden Jamil was sayin' he got fives across the board outta the ten-level grading scale." He then justified his statement while moving his stubby arms to cross them over his fluffy chest.

"I wouldn't be so sure. You know what they say- a clever hawk hides its talons." Azul meaningfully said with a skeptical hum.

"I think Jamil is actually quite smarter than what he lets on." You spoke up while closing your eyes.

"Kalim often mentioned having been helped by him after some course's assignments. Yet despite him having good results then, Jamil always managed to somehow get a lower score in comparison." You mused thoughtfully, earning some pensive looks from some of the students present.

"So Sea Snake could be the one mind-controllin' Sea Otter, huh? But why?" Floyd cocked his head to the side, arms leisurely propping him up on his spot on the bed.

"I'm afraid I couldn't get a clear answer on that." The latter's brother responded with a palm resting over his chest.

"You couldn't figure it out? Even with your signature spell?" The first of the two once again posed his inquiries.

"Does Kalim actually possess such fortitude of mind to not fall under it?" You pondered out loud in slight surprise when hearing that.

"Wait wait wait." Grim suddenly cut the series of questions off, wanting to add one of his own.

"Come to think of it, we've never seen Jade's signature spell. What's it do?" He asked with mild curiosity.

"Floyd, what have I told you about blurting out the details about my signature spell in the presence of others?" Jade scolded his brother in a steady tone, arms crossed and all.
