The echoes of steps nearing the door from outside and the clinking of keys as they got inserted in the lock startled the two freshmen inside the guestroom.

The fiery creature panicked, hastily whispering something along the lines of: "Hide it, hide it quick!", then followed by the shuffling of someone else moving.

"Who's the jerk coming here at this late- TEACH'!" The fiery monster started off defensively until the door got pushed open and he saw who it actually was that had walked in.

When entering the bedroom you were greeted by a bit of a bizarre scene. Yuu was seated on the floor, back up against the wall as the magical monster had his paws pushing on their leg, as if making sure they stayed there.

"Professor...! You actually came here..." The dark blonde blinked, sitting up a bit straighter as you closed the door and lowered yourself in front of the pair, immediately bringing a hand to cup the young fellow's cheek and the other to rest over the small beast's head.

"I got held back by the students 'guarding' the hallways. I requested a talk with Kalim." You spoke in a quiet but firm voice, looking over them both alternatively to check their states.

"Are you two alright?" You asked them in a thoughtful tone. One nodded, and the other cried out loudly in protest.

"This place is paradise a minute and hell the other! They give us such amazing food to you just to then be forced into walking miles under the sun and training endlessly!" The cat-like monster lunged to grab your wrist while whining desperately.

"We're mainly exhausted... and a bit sunburned, but nothing too bad." The magicless prefect quietly answered instead. Even with the only dim light in the room, you could notice their reddened cheeks and nose.

"You should've called me sooner... what were you even doing to burst into such a frenzy, when I came in?" Your hand dropped down as you exhaled deeply, then turning your gaze to the gray creature, who was still clinging to your arm.

"Heh heh heh. Since my hench-human was too stubborn to follow MY suggestion to call you..." He was quick to lean back and puff up his chest, speaking in a smug tone as he held a paw over his chest.

"I went ahead and swiped an escape tool this morning, just in case." He confidently announced, then slipping behind Yuu and pushing them a bit to make space... Not that he had the strength to.

The blue eyed human quietly scooted aside, revealing a small hole attached right to the wall, and placed beside it was...

"Ta-da! Behold: our ticket to freedom!" The fiery beast grabbed the small object and proudly held it high.

"That's... a spoon." You silently stated.

"Hadn't you come here, we would've used this bad boy to dig our way through the floor, one spoonful at a time!" Grim boldy said with a grin, completely believing his claim.

"Fortunately, it didn't come to that..." The Ramshackle prefect sighed and shook their head, while you put on a wry smile.

But that soon fell, leaving space to a more serious expression. "I'll talk with Kalim. What you've told me is quite shocking, Yuu." And just as you said that, a knock came from the door.

You stood back up, heading toward it as the pair also pushed themselves on their feet, the magical beast quickly dragging Yuu's satchel to cover up the slightly digged spot.

At the entrance, you were met with a dark skinned sophomore... although not the one you had requested to see.

"Professor...! It really is you. I thought the students just wanted to pull my leg." Jamil stood straight, looking as composed as he could as he met your gaze.
