The strange encounter with the beautiful man has me itching to get out of here. His irate expression, last night's howls, and loud crashes throughout the castle make me wary. Therefore, his belligerent actions make me eager to find an escape route.
Looking around the room I notice the beautiful king sized bed I'm lying in. It has a beautiful design extending throughout the room; maneuvering its way into the gold colored moldings. The moldings stand out more as I turn to open the curtains; the sunlight creating an illusion of the molding being a rich gold color.
Gazing out the window I discern what looks to be a garden. The garden exudes a serene effect on my body. I slightly relax my stiff muscles and sigh. I need to get out of here and find mom, but there is absolutely no way of doing that by staying here.
I continue staring out the garden and try to form a plan of escape when I hear a melodic voice whisper, "beautiful isn't it?"
I jump back startlingly and quickly make my way around the bed to try to put some distance between the woman and myself.
The fact that I didn't even here her walk inside makes me believe that my wolf is surely fading; I can't help but frown at the prospect of killing her.
"I'm sorry princess, I didn't mean to startle you," the woman utters softly while keeping her head lowered.
I assess her black uniform and tight bun cautiously. She seems to be in her late twenties, and her personality screams obedient. From my experience those are the ones you have to watch out for.
"I was told to get you dressed and bring you down for dinner," she continues slightly raising her head.
"Wait, why did you call me princess?" I question dubiously, folding my arms across my chest.
"Let's begin." She walks away, ignoring my question.
Her posture becomes tense as I watch her silently rummage around the room. She puts a change of clothes on the bed and before I can question her further interrupts me.
"I'll start to run a bath right away," she whispers nervously and motions towards the grand bathroom.
"Wait, I don't even know your name and you're going to run me a bath?Which I'm perfectly capable of doing myself by the way." I give her one of my most genuine smiles, attempting to be friendly.
She gazes at me surprisingly and quickly mutters, "Diana."
"Well Diana, I'm not completely useless. I'll go take a shower and get ready on my own, you don't need to baby me."
She appears worried by my response and nervously clasps her hands together. "No, please! It is my honor to serve you. I am humbled to have been chosen for this task," she somberly states.
I'm in a state of awe as I hang my mouth open.
She ignores my unladylike response and curtseys before hastily leaving the room.
I think what really has me shocked is her loyalty. I can see it in her eyes. The need to wholeheartedly do something for someone else without asking for anything in exchange, it's uncanny. In my world people don't just do favors for others without wanting something in return. So what could possibly be her reason for looking at me like I'm her...savior.
An hour later I finish my bath and dress in the clothes Diana left on my bed. I silently wait for her to return and sit in front of vanity mirror wearing shorts and a tank top.
I can't help but let the sadness consume me as I think about Diana. She appears sincere, but can I really trust her? She doesn't look like she'll hurt me, but that can very well be an act. My hair is in knots, dripping down my back. Yet, I don't care that it's wetting my tank top. The only thing on my mind is her undying loyalty. It's something new to me and I can't help but be reminded of my brother when I think about her.
