Something I imagined Kailani's dress to look like originally. I designed it in fashion class, but chose to go with white instead. You guys will see it in the next chapter! ;)

.......

The winter festival... Apparently a dream come true for any girl ever dreaming of meeting her mate, but in my case just a way of officially parading me around to the whole entire werewolf world.

"This is perfect," Thenora ranted while staring at the white dress the seamstress designed with a look of utter excitement, whereas I wore a more nervous expression as I examined the plain white dress that reached the ground, appreciating the simplicity of it, but bothered by its long length. The skirt puffed out in a way that demanded attention, something I tried avoiding.

"Are you sure? "I muttered nervously. "This looks more like a wedding gown. It's too much." The frown on my face grew as I imagined all the stares I'd be getting.

Thenora raised her eyebrows as she ran her hands against the bodice. "It's perfect honey, now Diana will be in here shortly, so go on into the shower and get ready. I have to go back inside the ballroom and make sure everything is in place."

I nodded absentmindedly, only raising my head when I heard the door snap shut.

Sighing, I made my way into the shower, taking my time as I stood under the hot water to think about my last conversation with Levi.

After the explanations in the ballroom, Thenora barged inside, scolding the group for nearly an hour before getting the staff to come inside and redecorate the whole room. However, Levi just ignored his mother's glare and grabbed my hand, leading me out of the room and into a secluded corridor.

"What's your secret?" He blatantly demanded.

I shook my head, "I can't tell you-"

He lifted my chin to make my eyes meet his. "By now you should know that you can tell me anything."

I nodded my head, smiling as a single tear slipped down my eye. "I know I can," I shakily responded.

"Then what's stopping you from saying it now?"

I opened my mouth, but then quickly shut it, scrunching my eyebrows in thought. "Because I need to show you, you'll never believe me if I tell you."

"Then show me." He took a step back, giving me enough space to do so, staring at me expectantly as he waited.

"I can't show you now- but I can show you tomorrow, after the festival," I emphasized.

"Why does it need to be after the festival?"

"Because... I just need to be with you one last night before I scare you off." Tears streamed down my eyes as I took in the look of concern displayed across his handsome features.

His beautifully swept back hair and dark eyes made me swoon from the minute I laid eyes on him. He was my knight and shining armor, always being there for me, despite the times I thought he wasn't. He was everything I've ever wanted, and I was so lucky to have someone as caring as him to have fallen in love with.

He was in front of me in a blur; one hand wiping away my tears while the other pushed my dirty blonde hair behind my ear. "Hey," he said quietly, trying to console me. "It doesn't matter where or when you tell me. We're mates. I'm not going anywhere."

"Then why did you abandon me when I told you I was dying?"

A frown marred his face at the sight of my hurt expression.

"I didn't leave you. I was-"

"Gone for three days," I interrupted.

He clutched my face tightly, both hands directing my eyes to stare into his. "I heard of translucence once, and there was a rumor that in the gardens of my kingdom was a cave, containing an antidote. I was searching for it."
