I wake up bright and early feeling energized. I can't remember the last time I ever slept so well. It was as if all of my haunting dreams were chased away, leaving me completely at ease.
I touch my lips and smile as I recall last night's events. I had my first kiss and I can't stop smiling!
Diana walks in at that moment smiling and bowing, "Princess."
She moves towards the window and opens the curtains. Sunlight streams inside the room, causing me to squint my eyes and turn my head as I adjust my eyes to the brightness.
"Diana how is it that you always know exactly when I'm awake?" I question in a teasing tone and jump off the bed, stretching my arms over my head.
"There's nothing I don't know that goes on inside this castle." She laughs heartily and walks inside my closet, taking out a white sundress and silver strapped sandals.
"What do you mean by that?" I ask taking the white sundress and facing it towards the vanity mirror, deciding whether or not I want to wear it to breakfast with Levi.
"Well, I'm in charge of all of the servants in this castle. Nothing happens without me knowing about it." She rummages around the closet.
"Really? I would have expected you to be more uptight." I laugh and put the white sundress back on the bed.
"Oh believe me, I am! Just not so much with you," she says staring at me adoringly.
"And why is that?" I question in a solemn tone.
My question seems to take her by surprise as her movements abruptly halt. The matter of the fact is that she doesn't have to keep my secret, so why does she?
She turns around and assess me over thoughtfully. She sends me a teasing smile before making her way towards the door.
"Diana! You can't just leave without giving me a reason." I hold on to her retreating figure.
She turns around and looks ay me thoughtfully once more before making her way towards me. She pushes my hair behind my ear, reminding me of a motherly gesture. "You remind me of someone very dear to my heart, that's all," she explains shrugging her shoulders.
She turns to leave and opens the door midway, however my curiosity refuses to allow her escape. I swiftly run up to her retreating form and tug her hand.
"Who do I remind you of?" I persist curiously.
I feel her hand tense up in mine, as if I brought on an onslaught of bad memories. I swiftly release her hand and mutter a quick apology.
"No, don't apologize. You just remind me of one of my childhood friends, that's all."
"Oh, well alright." I let her hand go and watch as she opens the door just to quickly turn around once more.
"By the way, you are cordially invited to have breakfast with the royal family this morning. The prince will retrieve you within an hour, so you have until then to get ready," she says back to her usual cheerful tone, but with a faint hint of sadness. Diana quietly closes the door and leaves me to get ready.
I finish my shower in record time and walk out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around myself, staring at the white sundress placed on the bed. I pick up the dress and examine it. I touch the soft fabric, running my hands over it. The dress feels comfortable and looks elegant, however as beautiful as the dress is; I am honestly just dying to wear a pair of comfortable jeans. I noticed that all the women in the castle wear dresses at all times, even the servants, making me feel quite annoyed that nobody owns a single pair of denim jeans.
