With ragged breaths I turn around expecting the Alpha King to somehow be standing right behind me so I could finally inspect the person that decided to keep me as his prisoner, rather than a man there's a small camera that had a voice inbox so we're allowed to communicate.

"Why do you even bother protecting us?" I probed with a surprisingly calm voice.

"Jay, Edwardo, Hector get her in the chair. Alyssa, Layla check on the child. Earlier she was having tremendous pains. Any harm comes to it then you will pay with your life," he commanded. Did he just call my baby an 'it'?

Right after the sound of the intercom beeped, indicating that he was no longer going to demand anymore things the two women and three men went into action and attempted to get a hold of me.

As if.

In less than a second I had three of them on the ground groaning in pain while I faltered in my steps as my body became even more weak than before. It was drained from all the energy it used to cope with the pain I suffered from earlier.

"Um, excuse me?" Spoke a soft voice to my right. My head whipped to the side. I growled in warning. The girl looked to be in her early twenties and had her hands up in the air. That did nothing to calm me, though. "I would never hurt you or your baby, we're just trying to help you. The baby could possibly be wrapped up in its umbilical cord, or worse."

I stopped for a minute, drew a deep breath, and gave in, sitting on the medical bed where the girl laid me down whereas a group of men entered and carried off the unconscious wolves I knocked out.

Light giggles caught my attention; the girl was trying to stifle her laughs but wasn't doing suck a good job. "I'm just surprised a pregnant she wolf like you could take out three fully grown werewolves and one of the best female fighters we have."

"Really?" I couldn't help the surprise from slipping out.

That meant that the baby was stronger than I thought because if my little bump was lending me strength then this could mean. . . .

"Yeah," the girl laughed, bringing me out of my thoughts. "My name is Layla by the way, the other one was Alyssa. She's very. . .complicated at times but if you get to know her she'll treat you like one of our own." She started to do some tests as I gritted my teeth together.

"That's the thing, I don't want to be accepted by this pack or anyone in it because I have my own pack."

She chews on her lower lip, went back to work as she caught me completely off guard by what she says next, "Maybe you're his mate?"

My eyes practically popped out of their sockets. The room fills with my laughter and it seemed to have startled her so I explained my reason for my outburst, "I already have a mate."

"Second chance mate?"

"No, my mate is my second chance mate."

I wonder why it was so easy to talk to a complete stranger? It must be the fact that she reminded me so much of Ana with her easy going personality.

"Wow, your baby has grown a lot in such a short time," she observed in amazement then adds more to herself. "It's a wonder who the father could possibly be."

I rose a perplexed eyebrow at that. "You have no idea who I am, do you?"

She shakes her head, glancing at me and back to the computer she's currently typing on. I feel a cold like substance smear over my lower stomach. When I take a peep I notice Layla reach over and take a probe handle and slide it along my stomach but frowned and claimed it wasn't working because she couldn't see the baby at all.
