"May we enter?" David asked tentively.

"Wait, I have to talk to my pack," I said, closing the door and pulling up the mind-link.

Whoever let them just walk into my territory was going to hear it from me.

'Who allowed vampires on our territory?' I growled.

'Wasn't me,' Seth was the first to say.

'Yup, I didn't. When I noticed they crossed the border I thought they were friends of yours,' Riley said. Riley was one of my best warriors, it didn't matter that he was only seventeen. Of course, he goes to school and works part time patrolling like most 'normal' teenage werewolves.

Numerous other voices denied that they allowed them to pass. They also thought they were friends of mine.

'It was me,' Someone said over the rest. Silence. A very tense silence.

'Everyone go back to your duties, but keep your eyes open for anything suspicious. Beta Anthony, come to my house immediately.'

Not even five minutes later Anthony was already standing in front of me in wolf form in the back yard. He went behind a tree and changed, coming out with just a pair of shorts. Anthony really was tall, had a full grown beard, and muscled like a constant weight trainer. His straight dark hair rested on his shoulders, grey eyes troubled as he stood before me. In the form of respect he bowed his head, straightening as I told him to follow me.

"Anthony let them pass," I told Vincent. I wasn't even finished with my sentence before my mate flashed to Anthony and held him against the wall.

The twins started crying which made me and my wolf become protective.

"That's enough, Vincent. Beta Anthony wouldn't make such a harsh decision if he didn't have a reason." When he didn't loosen his hold on Anthony I ducked under his arm and pushed. Vincent flew across the room.

Head held high, I faced my own mate, ready to defend my Beta.

"You're not thinking clearly," I said.

"I'm not?" he yelled, making the twins cry even more. "They could have been taken away."

I took a step forward, the air around me surging with energy.

"That's. Enough." With every word I took a step forward. "You're. Scaring. Isabella. And. Zachery."

Something flashed through his eyes, and my Vincent was back. He walked robotically to where our children lay, cooing gently he picked them up. They stopped crying.

He turned sad eyes to our Beta. "Anthony, I'm sorry-"

"Don't worry about it, man," he brushes it aside. "I probably would have had the same reaction if it had anything to do with my mates and children's safety."

I pointed to my head. Vincent got the message. I finally ask the one question I've been wanting to know. 'Why?'

'Alpha Ronnie, I know what you're feeling right now-'

'Don't try to talk about knowing what I'm going through, Beta Anthony. You had a job, and you broke protocol,' I said calmly.

'Alpha, I do know what you're going thru. To feel trapped with no one to turn to except those closest to you.'

'And sometimes that's not enough,' Vincent agrees. I look at him in shock. He shrugs.

'How can the whole family not be enough?' I ask, incredulous at what they're saying.
