Vincent P.O.V

I could feel the wind rush over me as I stand motionless on the cliff Ellie's mother had sacrificed herself at to protect the one we both love. And I am glad she did because if she didn't then who knew if I would ever have found my Beloved. Although, Ellie always corrects those who misunderstand that Helen never sacrificed herself but simply protected her one and only daughter.

Snow now enveloped the nearby mountains, trees, and all that lives in a forest. Animals have either went into hibernation or has changed the color of their furs to blend in with their surroundings for better survival. Reminds me of my Elizabeth, one moment she is this girl that was always hidden within herself until one day she decided to become someone stronger. And turned into something beautiful.

Ell is the one person that makes me feel. Brings back the person I was in the beginning of my life; who I truly was.

'King Vincent, the meeting will start in five minutes,' Seth muttered through the mind link. After thanking him I go back to gazing over the woods and mountains and anything else my eyes landed on.

I walk to the edge of the cliff, look down, then step off so I'm falling to the ground below. As soon as my feet touched the floor I was off faster than a bullet until the familiar house the pack meetings were held at came into view.

Sighing, I walk to the porch and was about to open the door when Ana, Anthony and Seth's little sister – also the girl Ellie and Bruce saved from rogue's – swung the door open, almost hitting me in the process if it weren't for my vampire reflexes.

"Alpha Vincent," she spoke quietly while digging her shoes into the floor, "we were waiting for you. But, you didn't have to hurry or anything like that."

For a fourteen year old she sure was quite tall. Since her birthday just passed it was safe to say that Ana didn't like celebrating without her Alpha.

I gave a small tilt of my mouth which was supposed to be a smile but failing miserably. "Thank you, Ana."

She smiles and moves out of the way to let me pass. The whole way to the front of the table I could feel everybody's eyes trained on me which really wasn't a bother because I am a King after all. Running a kingdom of vampires is somewhat similar to the ways of werewolves yet isn't at the same time.

Just like werewolves if vampires break the rules they will be punished by the King and Queen of the empire, exactly as an Alpha and Luna would a pack. Maybe that is why the two species hate each other it's because we are so alike yet so different. It all started with a competition on which was the better species and ended in a mass of destruction and hate.

After shaking off those thoughts I go back to leading my pack. "Beta Anthony, what have you and your troops discovered lately?" I demand, staring him in the eyes.

His face is grim as he reports, "We have covered all of the south wing but there is still no sign of the Alpha."

Nodding once, I look at the Third in command and ask Seth the same thing. "The same here, the west wing is clear. There is nothing," he grumbles while clenching his jaw.

"But where do you think she could have gone?" Rosie questions wearily, eyebrows furrowed in a frown. Anthony places a big hand over hers in comfort which was over her little baby bump.

"She said a place where it's dark and everything's dead, even the sky." Robin, Sam's mate, chimed in.

Jasmine, Seth's mate, steps forward. "I can try to look up places?" she offers generously while looking at me for permission. I nod my approval.
