The hours flew by. Next thing I know the hours turned to a day then two then three. Until finally one week passed since Bruce escaped.

When Beta Ryan found the nurse girl knocked out at the bottom of the stairs he went even more cold than he usually was. Then we had that conversation of how he was going to kill Bruce but then I told him that that wasn't going to happen.

Well, I've been fed and taken care of perfectly fine since our heated conversation but instead of any women coming in, these huge males do all the things needed to make sure the baby's healthy.

And they were also cold and emotionless. Geesh, is everyone here so cold? You know what I also noticed? I haven't seen one single child, nor heard their laughter.

This place was just. . .empty. The trees were dark, as was the sky, even breathing the air felt threatening.

I had a bad feeling that something's bad going to happen. Maybe in the future, maybe not.

It could do with the Alpha King. Or it could do with the fact that my child was moving around in my stomach like crazy, painfully.

I scream as the lower part of my body felt like it was ripping open. Gasping, I hold myself and scream again at the sight of blood. Slowly I look down, tears making it difficult to see the blood that had soaked through my joggers.

No, I thought in horror. The upstairs door burst open and in came the Beta who ripped the door off the wall and swept me off my feet and, with inhuman speed, flew up the stairs to the infirmary.

"What's happened?" The voice and words of the female barely registered. I kept popping in and out of consciousness.

"I don't know." Was it me or did the Beta sound worried? "The Alpha King just told me to get to the girl as fast as I could or else."

Oh. So he wasn't worried about me but for himself. Asshole.

A weird sound came from my lips. Nothing like I'd ever made before. I don't move a muscle, the sting of a needle piercing through my skin, it made me want to protect myself. But I couldn't move. Actually, I couldn't do anything but worry over my baby.

After three minutes I was drowned in darkness.

"Why do we exist?" I ask out of the blue.

Mama breathlessly laughs then shrugs when she realized I wasn't joking. "I don't know sweetheart."

The door opens and closes from the living room. "What's my two favorite girls talking about?"

"Daddy!" I yell, running into his waiting arms. Walter easily catches and lifts me onto his back.

"Well, honey," Helen leans in and they kiss and pull apart as I fake gag although I really think they're cute together, "Ell was just wanting to know why we exist."

He turns his questioning gaze on me. "Really, is that so. What made you think of such a thing?"

I shrug my four year old shoulders. "Dunno. Was just wondering what made the earth, the plants, humans, and the supernatural."

They both have their eyebrows up in shock. Again I shrug and hop to the kitchen where I grabbed one of the cookies mom and I made and bit into it.

"What's your idea?" Dad inquired curiously.

I eat my cookie slowly and drink a cup of milk to try and get my thoughts together.

"I've just been curious, is all. I want to understand why the ancestors create family's just to destroy them. Every life is precious to a pack," I said simply. The identical looks they were giving me said it wasn't that simple, though.
