Getting to the venue, both girls seemed so cringe slightly. Neither one liked big crowds, especially Cori, since she couldn't get around on her own at the moment, but the girls both promised they would go to prom for him. Scaring the shit out of Edward nearly a month ago now, this would be compensation.
Getting out of the car, Edward helped Cori into her wheelchair, turning around and helping Bella out as well, walking the brunette over to a stone bench as he steered Cori's chair in the same direction. "I'll be right back." He told the two, kissing Cori's forehead as he went to park the car, the two girls talking amongst themselves.
"Bella!" A voice called behind them, and Cori looked to see Jacob. "Oh look, it's Jacob, with half a suit and a tie." She smiled tightly, and he returned the gesture. "Jacob! Hey." "Nice." He said gesturing to her dress, Cori making a perfect sign with her hand, Bella slapping her gently. "You too. Are you crashing the prom or something? Did you come with a date?" "No." "Of course not." Cori muttered under her breath, and Bella gave her an odd yet irritated look.
"My dad paid me to come talk to you, both of you actually." "Let's hear it then." Cori said. "Just don't get mad, okay?" He said, looking at Bella. "He wants you to break up with your boyfriend. He said quote 'we'll be watching you'." "That's rich." Cori snorted and the boy looked at her.
"Tell him to look at his own band of freaks before he judges us." Cori spat, her temper flaring at the boy. "I don't think he meant-" "I know exactly what he meant." Cori growled as Bella looked at her worriedly. "Jake, maybe this isn't the best time." Bella told him as Jacob stood up and away from the two girls.
Bella went to stand up, Jacob going to help her when Cori glared at him, and Edward's voice came from the car park. "Jacob. I'll take it from here." He said glancing down to Cori, seeing her so upset made him worried. "Guess I'll see you around Bella." Jacob said, walking away and Cori scoffed. "What is your problem with him." Bella asked, upset, "You're acting just like Edward. Are you jealous?" "You wouldn't understand." Cori said as she looked away from the pair.
"Hey, I need you to calm down for me, okay. Remember what the doctor said. He didn't want you getting too worked up over anything. Just breathe." Edward told Cori, watching as she winced from the pain in her head.
Calming down she looks back toward Bella. "I'm sorry." "Me too. I know you have history with them." Bella said remembering the comment of Sam and Emily that Billy made.
"I leave you two alone for two minutes, and the wolves descend. Let's get inside shall we?" Edward asked as he brought Cori up to the photographer.
"Just a minute, please." Edward asked the photographer, moving Cori's wheelchair further into the venue, helping her out and to stand. The three posed together as the flash went off. "I can't believe you're making me do this." Bella said and Cori looked over her shoulder. "Just smile would you." She said and Bella did as told. "See it wasn't bad now was it?" Cori asked. "Shut up." Bella said playfully as Edward helped Cori back into her wheelchair.
"Wow, you are really trying to kill me." Bella said as she looked at the mass of people, her anxiety spiking. Cori grabbed her hand as she smiled. "Say the person who doesn't still have a gigantic hole in her skull." "You still milking that?" Bella asked with a playful smirk. "Until the day I die." Cori told her.
Edward shook his head at their playful banter. "Bella, prom is an important rite of passage. I didn't want you to miss anything." "Oh." Bella said as she glanced over the crowd again.
"Come on." Edward said as he wheeled Cori's chair over to the side, picking her up, holding her up just high enough off the floor that her dress covered her absent feet. It looked like she was just walking right beside him, but Edward pulled the move off flawlessly.
