⚠️*TALK OF DEATH AND SELF HARMING*⚠️
As the two talked on the beach, Emily and Sue were actively trying to save Cori.
"I can't stop the bleeding. It won't stop!" Emily cried as she dropped another heap of blood soaked towels on the floor beside the table. Sam looked at the girl he considered a sister, despair in his eyes until he noticed something.
"Stop. Stop! Get away from her!" He shouted as the two women raised their hands. Cori's chest had stopped moving. There was no longer breaths coming from her lips, as the supernaturals struggled to hear even the faintest of heartbeats, but it was useless.
Cordelia Austin was dead.
For the first time in a long time, uncontrollable ripples of rage and pain rolled across the skin of Sam Uley. Paul shoved the man out the door as he saw Emily move slightly away from her imprint.
As soon as Emily wasn't in sight, Sam exploded into his wolf. Snarls and growls were heard from inside the house, that eventually turned to whines and whimpers. "Sam? SAM!" Paul called out only to have the boys come out to see Paul standing alone in the small front yard of the Uley house.
A pain filled howl filled the air as the pack seemed to deflate. They had never lost anyone before.
"Guys! Come quick!" Emily called from inside the house, and Embry went in first as he was the most in control at the moment.
"Wh- What the hell?" He asked gaining the attention of the other wolves. Entering the small house, everyone had their eyes transfixed on the torso of the girl. It was glowing, Purple.
"What's happening?" "What's it doing?" "Is she healing?" "What's going on?" We're jumbled questions that were being thrown around, though no one knew any of the answers.
Everyone seemed to crowd around as they watched how the purple glow seemed to heal the girl from the inside out, her wounds slowly closing, healing, yet leaving scars in their wake.
"Guys?" Embry asked the pack who was surprisingly quiet for the first time in forever. His head tilted towards Cori as he smiled, a breath of relief escaped him.
"What?" Emily asked as a small but a small yet audible gasp was heard from the girl. Her chest expanded, making way for her lungs. "She's alive!" Sue said as she looked at the marvel that laid in front of her.
The girl remained unmoving for some time, a few hours actually, enough time for Paul to shift and go after their alpha, explaining what had happened.
As the two wolves made their way back, a groan was heard. Emily was up first, attending to the girl. "Cori?" She asked as the girls eyes opened, yet immediately shut. "Can you hear me?" Emily asked and the girl nodded slightly. A sigh of relief came from both Emily and Sue as they checked Cori over.
"Where's Bella?" Cori asked lightly. Embry was the one to answer. "She went to speak with Jacob. She was angry at him. We all are." He told her and a small chuckle came from her lips. "Good." She said softly.
"Cori, do you remember what happened?" Emily asked and Cori nodded, though hesitantly. "Jacob and Paul get into it, I tried to stop it, then Jacob came after me. All I remember is pain. Then Emily's voice, then Sue's. Then it all goes dark." Cori said.
"Did something else happen?" Cori asked, her eyes barely opening, looking at Embry to get an answer. "You died Cori." He told her as his voice broke. "You didn't have a heart beat. You stopped breathing. You were dead." He told her.
There was a long pause until she uttered a single word, "Oh."
"Did you know you were gonna survive?" Embry asked, wondering about her subtle reaction to hearing she had died. Sitting up on the side of the table, stabilizing herself with her arms, Cori sighed. "No, I just kinda wish I didn't wake up." She muttered, and every heart in the room broke.
The pack knew of the troubles the girl had been going through, as Sam's thoughts weren't exactly quiet when he shifted. They either revolved around Emily or the moments that he and Cori had talked. They knew about the Cullen's leaving, the fights between Bella and herself, and what affect it had on the Swan girl, but the Austin was much harder to read. You could tell she was hurting by her bursts of anger and blocked off emotions, but she hid it well. That was why it was such a surprise that "not wanting to wake up" was something the girl had even uttered.
She had become such a part of the pack, that part of them all cracked a little inside when she said it. "No, honey. Don't say that." Sue said softly, the first one to speak up as she embraced the girl, Cori hanging on for dear life.
Tears sprung to Cori's eyes as the damn had seemed to break in her fragile state. "I can't do it anymore." She said as her voice broke. "I just want it to all go away!" She cried as tears fell one after another, her body shaking, in front of a room full of people.
"Cori?" Sam asked as he entered the home, and the girl quickly pulled away from Sue as she got off the table. Her legs buckled under her weight, as she started to fall, Sam caught her as she cried into his chest as he held her close.
Sam's eyes looked around, hoping for the smallest amount of context of why the girl was crying, but the pitiful glances everyone gave them didn't seem to help. "Whats wrong?" Sam finally asked in a whisper. "I didn't want to wake up. I wanted everything to be a dream. I want them back, I want to be normal again, I want my life back." Cori sobbed.
"I wish I could make it all better, but you were made this way, and your path has been chosen, Cordelia. Only you are the one who can change your path." Sam told her.
Pulling back she gave him a watery smile, before it twisted into a grimace. "What?" Sam asked panicked. "My arm, it burns." She hissed as she looked down at her wrist to see a black line appear, one that went with her arm, not across it. "What does it mean?" Cori asked as she looked up to Sam. "I'm not sure, but I'll find out." He promised her as he pulled her into another hug, one she reciprocated.
