Emily and Sam stand over the still shivering girl, both of their dark eyes holding worry. "She won't, you know, die again, will she?" Emily asked. "I don't know. I don't know what she's capable of." Sam told Emily as he pulled her close, pressing a kiss to her head as she laid her head against his chest.

Emily knew what ever he had found at Cori's house seemed to disturb him to an extent as the usually calm and collected Sam seemed to be unusally quiet as he re-entered the house. He kissed Emily as he came in, holding her a little tighter, and though he didn't tell her, she knew something big must have happened. Since then he seemed to watch over the girl like a hawk, even more protective of her than he was before.

Sam sat on the end of the couch, pulling Emily along with him as they sat in silence, just enjoying the moment with each other. "You wanna talk about it?" Emily asked softly as she gently rubbed the arm what was wrapped around her middle.

"I knew Cori ever since I was young. Her dad knew mine, and they were best friends. Until they weren't." Sam said. "What happened?" Emily asked, listening intently. "My father being the assholish prick he is, he slept with Cori's mom. Though she didn't seem to care that both of them were married either. That's when Cori and I drifted apart. Her dad didn't want me around his daughter, and I didn't want to cause a bigger divide, so I stepped back." Sam said, pausing for a minute before continuing.

"Cori's mom, she was something different. Cori has her wild spirit, her hard headedness, and her looks, but that's about it, thankfully. Margery slept around, in and out of her marriage. She didn't care. It was only a piece of paper to her. But Jonas loved her, more than I thought I had ever seen any one love someone." Sam said trailing off.

"Sam?" Emily asked quietly. "Margery died two days ago. A car wreck. Cori got the call yesterday."

"With Bella, and Harry-" Emily cut herself off as she looked over to the girl who still trimmered slightly. "Poor girl." Emily sighed. "You should have seen it Em. The windows were busted out of the houses, there was a hole in the ground from where her scream hit." Sam said as he looked down. "I should have been there. I knew, Cori showed me those drawings. I've been in these woods everyday of my life. I should have known." He told her as a single tear ran down his face, Emily swiping it away. "You aren't Superman, Sam." She told him.

Before he could speak, a knock was heard from the front door. Emily stood up, ready to answer it, Sam standing behind her.

Opening the door, there was Billy, his hands on the wheels of his wheelchair, an old book in his lap. "I'm not interrupting something am I?" He asked, realizing how close the two were. "No, of course not Billy. Come on in." Emily said stepping to the side as the man wheeled himself in.

"You were asking about the mná doiléir that was once connected to the tribe. I found an interesting story referring to the unseen woman. It talks about her for just a few lines, but what caught my interest was the drawing next to it." Billy said as he opened up the pages, only to be met with a sketched picture of a woman, with marks all over her body, much like the one Cori recently got. The most intriguing part was the purple of the girls eyes.

"Does it say what they were?" Sam asked, but Billy shook his head. "The only reference I can make out is the saying, "the battles that were won with loss." Billy told them. "What do you think it means?" Sam asked. "I think it means that the battle was won, but not without sacrifice. The mná doiléir died protecting their chosen one, and since their chosen one still lived, they were brought back, hints the eyes. Like a vicious cycle." Billy said. "So she gets a mark for every time she dies protecting her chosen one?" Sam asked and Billy nodded.

Sighing, Sam looked down at the picture, the woman covered in nothing but black tally marks. "Then how many times did she die?" Sam asked. "Too many." Billy said, not even able to count the amount of black scar like marks. "And if Bella dies?" Sam asked. "Then likely Cori does as well." The chief spoke and it was like the room had chilled down considerably.

A gasp rang out as Cordelia's eyes flew open, her eyes shining purple for a split second. "Where's Bella?" She asked. "She's not here right now." Sam told her, hearing Jacob go on and on about it as they looked for said girl.

"Where is she?" Cori asked again, a twinge in her voice that made the wolf sigh. "She's on a plane." "To where?" Cori countered. "To Italy." He told her. "Fucking hell." Cori hissed as she tried to get up, but Sam was beside her in an instant. "Hold on. Hold on." He said gently as he pushed her back onto the couch.

"What happened?" Cori questioned. "A Cullen came back." "Which one?" Cori asked. "Jacob called her Alice." "Why?" "What?" Sam asked. "Why did she come back?" "She said that her brother was going to kill himself. That she had a vision of the two of you dead, and he wanted to die too." Sam said. There was a pause, Cori taking in the information, and the tenseness that came with knowing a Cullen had come back.

Cori's eyes darkened considerably, as a smirk came to her face. "Good." She told him. Sam tried to hold back his worry as he could tell the girl was falling apart behind her illusion of hate.

"Cori?" "I fucking hate him, and his whole family." She stated as she connected her eyes with him, tears cracking her tough façade as she began to laugh. "I hate them all."
