After two hours, multiple bowls of m&m's and lots of tears of frustration shed, Leah looked at the redhead. "Do you think you understand?" "I think I want to die." Cori told Leah and the brunette girl rose a brow. "Not the question I asked Austin." Leah huffed. "I guess! Numbers don't number for me, okay? For that matter, letters don't either, but I'm better with the alphabet than the numerical system." Cori huffed wishing she could throw the whole subject away and never look at it again.
"Have you asked your dad about this?" Leah asked. "My dad? The painter?" Cori asked and Leah exaggeratedly nodded her head. "Yeah, the only Jonas Austin I know." Leah said simply. "Why?" Cori asked. "Cori, he does more than just paint. He sculpts, he does this amazing work that he no doubt uses algebra to make. Maybe making it make sense in something that you're more used to will help. I'm not saying you're dumb, but numbers on a page clearly aren't working for you. Plus, he knows how your brain works being ADHD and all, and honestly Cori, I think you should get tested for dyslexia. It's hard for me to keep up at times with you, and I deal with Seth." Leah told her, a small smile on her face, trying to lessen the blow, but it didn't seem to do its job.
"Maybe I should just dye my hair blond." Cori said softly and Leah's eyes grew sad. She didn't mean to come off as mean. "Maybe just some highlights." She joked and Cori looked at her, a small smile on her face. "Thanks Leah. You've been really helpful." Cori said bringing the girl into a hug. "I don't hug." Leah said as she sat still. "You do today." Cori told her.
Backing out of the hug, she started to pack her things. "Got a hot date?" Leah asked. "No! I told Bella I wouldn't be much over two hours. I left her at Jacob's at her own request." Cori told Leah.
"That boy is so in love with her." Leah said, then immediately regretted her words as she saw how Cori's face fell. "Though he doesn't stand a chance." Leah corrected and Cori looked over to her. "I know her likes her, maybe even loves her, but Bella loves me. She'll choose me over him." Cori said seriously, more serious than the Clearwater girl had ever seen the redhead. "I hope you're right." Leah told the girl and Cori looked down. "So do I." Cori said.
Grabbing her bag, she was met at the door by Sue. "Leaving so soon?" Sue asked. "She's picking up her girlfriend, mom." Leah said and Sue smiled. "Charlie's daughter, Bella. Right?" Sue asked and Cori nodded. "Well, better not keep her waiting. You're welcome back anytime sweetheart!" Sue said as she gave a brief hug. "Thanks Sue. I may just take you up on that."
Waving the mother daughter duo goodbye, Cori backed out of their drive, headed back towards the blacks when something caught her eye. With in an opening of the tree's, four boys were walking, three of which she knew, and one looked familiar, until his eyes caught her blue ones through the window of her Jeep.
Slamming on her breaks, she made sure her vehicle was off the side of the road before she barreled out of her Jeep, and towards the leader of the group of boys, Sam Uley.
"SAM!" Cori shouted, her voice vicious as it cut through the moist air. Embry's body seemed to freeze upon hearing her voice, and Sam saw. "SAM!" She shouted again as she saw that the boys were still moving away from her.
Cori could feel her anger boiling for the Alpha, for his empty promises, for taking people away from her, for everything.
All of a sudden it was like the night of Bella's birthday all over again. Her emotions seemed to be heightened to a sense that couldn't be contained and it came out of her in not only a yell, but a scream.
"STOP!" She screamed at them, as her entire body seemed to shake from the adrenaline and the emotions she was experiencing. The wolves covered their ears at the shrill noise that seemed to shake them to the bone, all their eyes now on the girl as she got closer and closer to them.
Their wolves seemed to be on edge as the redhead got closer, them feeling her energy, her power, but also sensing that she wasn't a threat, at least not now.
Sam now stood in front of them, seeing the fire in Cordelia's eyes. "What did you do? What did YOU do!" She yelled at him as she shoved her hands to his bare chest, actually making the alpha stagger a bit, making the others stand a little straighter, ready to protect their alpha.
"Cordelia, stop." Sam told her. "No! Why do you keep doing this?" She asked him. "Doing what?" Sam asked. "You promise me that you'll be there, then you disappear, and you take others with you! I can't see them, talk to them! Why?" Cori spat at him, her rage only growing at his question.
"It's safer that way." He told her. "Safer?" She asked, her anger still very much present, though a laugh slipped through her lips. "Cori-" but Sam didn't get far as Cori punched him in the face, the wolf spitting out blood. "Fuck you Sam." She hissed. "Cori!" Paul stared at the girl he had come to enjoy with wide eyes as she actually did damage to a wolf like himself.
⚠️Talk of suicide attempt⚠️
"I wanted to fucking kill myself, I had nothing to live for, you saw it yourself that night. You said you'd be there. Not once did you show your face. Not even a fucking text! When I finally start to heal, started getting better, you take the one friend I make away from me! You tell him that he can't call or text. It isn't fair Sam! I know what you are for fucks sake! Look at me!" Cori yelled as he avoided her eyes.
"She knows?" Embry asked, looking at all three wolves, only for them to not look at him. They had lied to him, told him that she knew nothing of the supernatural world, and it would be dangerous for her to ever find out.
"I know Embry. I know you're wolves. I know about the legends, at least what Carlisle told me about them." Cori told him and Embry looked around at his pack then to Cori. "Why?" "Why what?" Cori asked. "Why do you know?" Embry asked.
"Because, she's a part of the supernatural too." Sam told him.
