The enlarged spanish doors opened with an ease to the mansion in front of the blonde girl. Nanami swung the door open, propping his arm above his head onto the door. His bored expression was quickly replaced by a soft smile twitching against his lips at the sight of the blonde girl at his doorstep.
Avery waved the crinkled bag in the air with a small smile, revealing her dimples that Nanami obsessed over, "I brought donuts."
Nanami crossed his arms over his chest in amusement, leaning against the opened door. He took notice of the girl's appearance. Her blonde hair was pulled up into a claw clip, giving her a sophisticated and elegant look. With winter around the corner, she had a white and light green stripped linen tunpic top that covered up her green rib-knit tank top; paired with light washed high waisted jeans.
He opened the door wider, allowing the overly-energetic girl to make her way into his house. For such a huge mansion, Avery would argue that he was lonely since he lived alone. It was an excuse used almost everyday so she could see him, yet, Nanami never seemed to mind.
Avery made her way inside, taking her shoes off next to the door. Nanami felt the last chill from the weather before the door shut. Avery shrugged her stripped cover of her shoulders, instantly feeling the coolness from the AC inside. Nanami took a hold of the clothing, hanging it up on the coat rack. It was unusual for the man to be doing this, but he always gave his staff Thursdays and Saturdays off, leaving the blonde boy alone with the girl who had his heart pulsating in his chest.
"You do realize I don't eat donuts, right love?" Nanami softly chuckled, turning his attention back towards the blonde who already had half of the glazed donut shoved into her mouth.
Avery gave him a sheepish smile, wiping the corner of her mouth after she finished the donut. Nanami shook his head in amusement, lazily draping his arm over her shoulders.
"It's the thought that counts," She insinuated, feeling the warmth of his muscular arm against the back of her neck. Avery's face swirled in disgust, pushing his arm off her shoulders. "Get your sweaty arm off of me, asshole."
Nanami let his head roll back, closing his eyes as a genuine laugh escaped his lips. Avery glanced down at Nanami's outfit, instantly realizing where he came from. The blonde man was still in his work attire, coming back from a mission he was assigned to from the police chief. The sight of his attire formed a blush onto the girl's pale cheeks.
It was as if Nanami knew the girl was checking him out due to the smirk that appeared on his face. Avery couldn't help but tear her gaze off of him, embarrassed at her getting caught in the act. Tension rose between the two, almost suffocating the blonde girl. Avery pushed at his chest halfheartedly, moving towards the marble staircase that wrapped itself into a curve.
Nanami followed closely behind, watching her every move with a calculated expression. The two walked up the staircase in a comfortable silence, each wrapped up in their own mind. For some odd reason, Avery panicked internally, trying to figure out what to say to the man next to her. Ever since that night, the topic never got brought up once again, and it bothered her for an unknown reason. It seemed rather unbearable to be just friends with him, especially knowing her true feelings she had for him.
"How was work?" A bubble was caught inside of her throat. Avery prayed he didn't catch on to the nervousness that was evidently laced in her words.
Nanami shrugged his shoulders, twisting the doorknob to his bedroom. Avery walked past him, unable to ignore the shiver running up her spine as her shoulder brushed past his. She felt as if she was going insane, surely he had to have felt the sparks from their ghostly touch.
