CHRIS.
I can see a body lying on the gurney, but it doesn't look like Flor, she has bandages on her nose and has some bruises under her eyes, her face is swollen and she has a shoulder sling and has one of her legs up on some pillows.
"Can I stay here?"
"On the hallway?"
"I don't care, I just don't want to let her out of my sight."
She sighs "let me talk with her doctor and see if you can stay in the room with her." She doesn't even let me respond when she's walking away.
I stand there, looking at her, waiting for either of us to wake up. The longer I look, the more injuries I can see and all I wonder is how much she suffered, how scared she must've felt, I can see her ring is no longer on her finger and I don't know if it was taken during the attack or in the hospital. Honestly it feels like I've been staring at her for hours, when John's wife comes back.
"You can stay in the room with her, but you cannot touch her, even the slightest movement on the wrong place can be hurtful in her state, please let us take care of her."
I nod "I'm sorry, you're already doing favors for me and I don't even know your name."
"Well, to be fair, I'm doing it for her, you're her fiancé and I know she must want you to be close. But I'm Melissa Smith."
I shake her hand "Christhopher Evans."
She chuckles "Oh, trust me, I know. John came home showing me the picture he took with you and Flor, besides my daughter went crazy saying she had met Captain America."
I smile "well, she's a lovely kid, and John saved Flor's life, in my eyes he's the superhero."
She places her hand on her heart and takes a deep breath "I know that means a lot to him, I'll go grab a pillow and comforter for you."
"Would it possible to ask for a phone charger? My phone's dead and I won't leave her."
"Of course, I'll let you borrow mine." As soon as she walks away, I enter the room and walk closer to her it was hard to keep my distance but at least I'm next to her.
"You can take her hand, that won't hurt her." I turn around to see a doctor standing on the door.
"Hi, I'm sorry." I say moving to the chair to be out of his way.
"Don't worry, my nurse asked permission for you to be here. I'm doctor Diego Gomez, I came to talk to you." I nod "I won't lie she's in pain, but I can guarantee you it looks worse than it is."
"How bad is it?"
"It will take some time to heal, she'll need physical therapy on her knee, her shoulder was already placed on its place so she'll just need to rest a little bit, her ribs will hurt and take some time to heal, but with rest and patience it'll be okay, we already fixed her nose as well, what concern us the most is her concussion, her brain is a little swollen but there's no blood or liquid we should worry about, so we just need to wait for her to wake up."
I gulp and nod "how bad are the cuts on her?"
"I believe the one on her eyebrow was done first, the rest are all superficial, probably done when she fell over the glass on the ground or when she defended herself."
