FLOR.
"I like my school, it has cool labs and the cafeterias food is better than my last school, my classmates are nice too."
"That's good, what's something you don't like?"
"I'm the new kid, I don't want to also be the orphan."
"That's fixable" He nods for me to continue "you don't have to forget about your mom, and you don't have to call them mom and dad, but Sussy and Luke are you're foster parents now, you don't have to be label as an orphan when you don't want to specially when you have a family."
He sighs "it's not easy... I really like them, and they have been great with us, but I know sooner or later Lori will call them mom and dad, probably Jake too, and I'm the one who remembers everything about our parents."
I nod "I get your point, and I'm sure neither of them wants you guys to forget about your parents, so why don't you ask them to have some pictures of them at the house? Believe me, they won't mind."
"Sussy suggested that as well, but I'm not sure it's the right time, is too soon to bring back those painful memories on my siblings."
"Then we'll compromise, you're sharing a room with Jake now right?" He nods "okay, so I have a couple of spare bedrooms, you can have a safe place here, even if you don't want to put a frame, you can have a drawer of memories and whenever you feel the need to be close to them, you can come here."
His eyes get watery "you would do that?" I smile before standing up and stretching my arm for him to hold my hand and stand up, I walk to a wall where we keep a lot of family pictures.
"This is our family wall, mine and my husband's, we have lost people in our life, but we know that wherever they are, they're keeping an eye on us, and we want to remember them like this, happy, joyful, and when you're ready I'm sure you can ask to have that at your house even here if you want."
He looks everywhere "you have a really nice family." I squeeze his hand.
"This is your family too now, kid." He hugs me crying a little.
"We have a nice family."
I smile even if he can't see me "yes we do, and your parents are part of it too, we're thankful to have you guys, and that wouldn't have been possible without them, I know it was horrible what happened, and it will take time for you to recover from that, but you have to remember the good stuff about them, because they love you."
"I love them too."
"I know, and that will never go away, you can love a lot of people in your life, you don't have to feel guilty for loving us too, whenever you're ready to do that."
"I already do, you have no idea how many times I've felt the need to call Luke dad or Sussy mom, specially when the nightmares come and they stay with me, but I don't want to betray my parents."
"Okay... why don't you choose a nickname for them? That way you don't feel like you're betraying your parents but you also feel closer to Luke and Sussy."
"Because it just flows on my tongue and I have to bite it to keep it in."
I laugh softly "okay... how about in Spanish?"
He lets go of me to look at me looking a little ashamed "I don't know Spanish."
"And you don't have to learn if you don't want to, but mom and dad are easy words to learn, mom is mamá, you can just say "ma" that's actually use in the states too, and dad is papá you can call him "pa" and that's also use here."
