"Firey, keep an eye on the vegetables, don't let them boil over!"

"Don't worry mom, I'm watching 'em,"

For the last few weeks Firey had been staying with his parents, he didn't mind it, he understood why they made him stay.

After his mother heard about what happened, she got in her husband's car and dragged Firey with her.

But not before giving him the tightest hug she had ever given him.

She had been terrified when she heard he was in hospital and had visited him and stayed with him while he was there, Firey didn't know that since he had been in a medically induced coma for a few days.

His parents weren't forcing him to help on the farm but Firey wanted to make himself useful and it was better than sitting and feeling sorry for himself all day.

Right now, he was helping his mother with dinner but one of the chicken had escaped the coop and his mom was in the garden trying to catch it.

He had spent most of the day helping his dad repair the tractor and maintain the fields, he was tired but in a good way, a way that he could go to bed happy that he had done some honest work.

While he was chopping some chilis to add to the dinner he heard a knock on the front door.

"Firey could you go answer that? This damn chicken ain't cooperating," his mother shouted from outside.

"Sure," Firey called in reply.

When he walked to the door and opened it, he was not at all prepared for who it was.

Well, emotionally he was but not physically.

Standing in front of him, with the sweetest smile in the world and looking as beautiful as ever, was the current number one Idol.

Leafy Verte.

It was the first time he had spoken to her face to face since the night he was released from the hospital, they had texted but not much.

Firey had no idea that Leafy would be at the door when he opened it, he was wearing the same clothes he had worn when was uprooting dead plants from the field that were covered in dirt and dust and his mother's old red and white striped apron.

Leafy blinked at the sight in front of her, Firey couldn't even look at her from the sheer embarrassment he felt.

"I didn't know you'd be here," he mumbled.

"Sorry, that's my fault, I should have told you I was gonna drop by," Leafy smiled softly.

"I can go change, just gimme a minute" Firey said as he took a small step backwards.

"No don't, it...looks kinda cute, ya know? I like it," Leafy said, reaching out without thinking and taking his hand.

Firey looked down to see her hand holding his, he remained where he was and looked back up her to see that she had also gone a bit red.

It was awkward, neither of them really knew what to say or do, Firey felt nervous.

"I could hear you when I got to the door, I hadn't realized how much I missed hearing you laugh," Leafy admitted.

" I hadn't realized how much I missed you," Firey responded quietly, gazing at her.

The soft sunlight washed over her as it slowly set over the fields, highlighting the soft hues in her hair as it swayed with the calm breeze, her eyes were gentle with worry hiding within the hypnotic blends of green and gold.

Firey wanted nothing more than to ease the nerves and fear that she dealt with, to help her go back to what she was before he hurt her.

"Don't look so sad Firey, it's not very flattering," Leafy joked.
