Chapter 21 

Rhenys sat in the solar room at Driftmark after her mother got her so sewn up and from packing. She was only there because she received a note from Aemond to meet him there. She thought about his behavior last night, she had never heard him say something so cruel before. Like he was hiding his true colors behind a mask.

Then the doors opened: "Rhenys? Are you here?"

Rhenys sighs and turns to him, "...I'm here, Aemond,"

Aemond nods and closes the door.

Rhenys saw Aemond's face, it didn't look any better from last night when she saw it being sewn sewn eye.

"Are you upset with me?" Aemond asked.

" You promise you wouldn't say it Aemond, why did you break our promise?"

" I didn't mean to... I was just so angry at them not you."

"You were going to kill my brother," Rhenys turned away from him.

"He cut my eye!" Aemond said.

"Another promise you broke, you promised me you never hurt my brother! but you did!"

Aemond's thoughts ran and ran, what if she rejects me now? I can't lose her. " I'm sorry Rhenys...? Please forgive me, Dragonheart?"

Rhenys wanted to forgive him after he said those words, but she made a promise to her father. And she doesn't break promises.

She moved towards him "I'm sorry Aemond, but I don't wanna be your Dragonheart anymore," she grabbed his hands and put a scroll that had been folded on both sides to keep something inside.

"Goodbye Aemond," Rhenys says as she closes the door behind her.

Aemond stood in his dark room and thought to himself, But you broke our promise too Rhenys.

"It's all their fault. Why am I being punished?" he whispers to himself.

Aemond looked down at his hand and remembered the scroll. And decided to open it. he's not expecting a necklace to fall out the one he had given to Rhenys on her name day.

Aemond was angry and started to destroy things in his room stuff on the tables, the things in his trunk, and the books he brought with him from home. He didn't care what he destroyed. He was just so angry.

Aemond didn't stop until his mother came into the room. She was horrified by what she saw.

"What is the meaning of this? Aemond tell me what happened."

"It's nothing ok just leave me alone!"

"It is not nothing. If it was nothing, you wouldn't be destroying your entire room."

Aemond looked at her, then decided to tell her anyway "This!" he held up the necklace.

Alicent looked at the necklace and wondered then hit her. It was the necklace. Her son gave Rhenys.

"Oh, Aemond," she pulled him in for a hug.

"She gave it back to me," Aemond whispered.
"What should I do now mother, she hates me now"

Alicent knew her son cared for the Rhenys, but didn't know it would go this far. so she decided to lie.

"She doesn't hate you, she's just blinded by her mother and her brother's words,"

Aemond looked up for her "Do you mean it, mother? What if she hates me for how I look now and won't marry me because of it?"

Alicent decided that she would do everything to make her son happy even if it didn't involve him marrying Rhaenyra's bastard, daughter.

"I'll do everything in my power to betrothed, you too, she was meant for you Aemond,"

"You will? I get to Rhenys marry after all,"

"Yes,"

Laenor kissed the top of his children's heads and went to move, but Rhenys woke up, grabbed his hand, and looked at him. "Father, where you going?"

Laenor put an arm around her shoulders and kissed her forehead "I'm just gonna go for a little walk Rhenys..." he said, after she started to close her eyes again.

It was only a few hours later when she was woken up by her mother, to tell her that her father was dead, and was killed by his closest friend. And that she was married again so soon.

So here she was holding her brother's hands and standing next to Baela and Rhaena while her mother married Daemon.

When Rhenys looked up to notice her dragon Rhaegor flew above them, checking to see if she was OK feeling her sorrow.

Didn't know she was OK in the last few hours she just lost Aemond whom she had so much trust in, but only to betray her, then her father, who she loved very much, only to die a few hours after seeing her, and making sure she was asleep.

All she wanted to was rest.
