"Being h-"
She paused it. She stared at her own face, looking at the escape pods. She seemed so scared.
The camera footage on the ARK had been her only company for... She didn't know. How long ago were the 1970s?
She backed up the video a bit.
She watched herself run, holding Shadow's hand. He kept shouting for her to explain what was happening. She heard gunshots in the background.
"Get into that!" She ordered, pushing him toward it. Her brother shakily went into the pod. She closed the door.
He turned around to face her. "Maria, what are you doing!?"
"It's going to be okay!" She promised, running over to the lever to release them.
"Stop that! What are you doing!?"
"Shadow please," she shoved the lever down. Machinery hummed around the two. "I need you to promise me something."
The gunshots started getting louder, almost drowning out her voice.
"Bring hope to humanity!" She cried out, hoping he could hear her.
"MARIA-"
The gunshot made her flinch, no matter how many times she watched it.
She stared at the screen for a while. Then, she reached over and clicked a button on keyboard.
"Bring hope to humanity!"
