Day 21: Unresponsive - Sally and Amy - AU2

(Hush, they are sisters and besties, your honor.
Also, Mecha-Sally arch lol)

"Sally?" Amy called, pressing onto the communicator. Her hands were shaking. "Sally?"

Sally didn't respond for a moment. "Put me on the line with Nicole." She said bluntly. She seemed determined.

"Sally, I can't let you-"

"Ames, I'm right in front of one of the biggest roboticization machines any one of us has ever seen. If I don't take it down right now..." She trailed off for a moment. "Put me on her line, please."

"I... Okay," she sighed, quickly connecting the Holo-Lynx to Sally's line.

"Okay, Nicky, what have I got?" Sally asked, stepping closer to the machine.

"It's ready to activate. Eggman's charging it quickly, it must be disabled. But..." Nicole hesitated.

"Hit me, I can take whatever you'll say."

"The energy is too pent-up inside it. If you disable it now, its energy is going to attach to the nearest living organism. And that's..."

"Me. So... I'll get roboticized..." The situation was not looking good for her. "Well, I guess that's better than the whole city."

"Sally, abort the mission, now!" Amy demanded, before Nicole or Sally could get a word in. "I'm sending a shuttle to your location, so step away from the machine."

"Amy-"

"No!" Amy's voice broke. "I can't lose any more family, do you hear me!? Sally, you are not going to take this machine down, we can find another way!"

"Amy, you and I both know we can't." Sally took a deep breath.

"It's going to be okay."

"Sally..."

Sally cleared her throat. "Amelia Rose, as co-commander of the Freedom Fighters, Princess of the Acorn Kingdom, and your sister..." She paused. "I'm sorry."

With that, Sally cut the line and went back to Nicole. "Alright, where do I put the disabling device?" She asked. Nicole scanned around the machine.

"The opening over there should suffice." She said, bringing attention to one of the gaps in machinery.

Sally nodded and stepped closer. "May Gaia protect me..." She mumbled. "And May the others forgive me..."

She slammed the disabler into the opening and watched as the machine hissed and buzzed, screeching with what could've been rage. Sally backed away, glancing around. She was still trapped in this room with the machine.

And she knew what was next.

Amy desperately tried connecting her line back to Sally.

"Sally, please, can you hear me!?" She shouted, her voice shaking with fear.

Nothing.

The line was dead.

Amy knew what had happened.
