Day 27: Left for Dead - Infinite - AU2

"I... did what I... was supposed to..."

Infinite fought to get away from the Badnik holding him by the neck. The Jackal thrashed and fought, biting and clawing at the metal monster.

Nothing worked.

"You failed to keep Sonic on the Death Egg. They escaped and were able to bring down my empire." Robotnik watched him, his arms crossed and his eyes unreadable under his goggles.

"You really do nothing but fail, do you?" He scoffed a bit. "And I can't have failures around me."

He tilted his head. "So, I'll be needing the Phantom Ruby back."

Infinite's breathing hitched when he heard that. Two weeks of nothing but torture and pain, and he'd dealt with it all. He was sure Robotnik would get bored.

But he would not take the Phantom Ruby.

It had chosen him.

That was the one thing he'd ever accomplished. He had to keep it.

Still, he couldn't stop the Badnik as it reached for his chest. The robot's claws dug into his chest, clamping around the Phantom Ruby.

Infinite shrieked in pain as the gem was ripped out of his chest.

Finally, the Badnik let go of him, holding the Phantom Ruby, which dripped with blood.

Infinite should've been dead, but his chest still heaved with breathing and his fingers twitched.

Whatever was left of the Phantom Ruby's magic was keeping him alive.

Robotnik didn't seem to care, gazing at the gem contently. With that, he left Infinite on the ground.
