Chapter 2 - Sorting Hat

Sirius's POV

"Albus... Do you think she'll be okay here?" I ask, concern clearly in my voice. Albus nodded once slowly before giving a reassuring smile.

"Trust me Sirius, the child will be safe here in Hogwarts." I sighed and shuffled nervously in the leather seat.

"Are... Are you sure? You already know about her past.... What if she gets bullied or wors-" I was cut off by Albus raising his hand, gesturing for me to be quiet.

"Once again, Ms. Hellstrand will be fine... If something happens, I will ask one of the professors to watch over her." That mysterious twinkle in his eyes were showing.

"Please not Snivellus." I mumble under my breath, glaring at nothing particular.

"I assure you that I have much better things to do than babysit children." Severus growled, stepping out from the shadows of the room. I frown as I saw him, he was still the same as ever.

"Good to see you too Snivellus." I mutter, a smirk playing on my lips. I loved making the old git angry, it's my guilty pleasure.

"Stop calling me that idiotic nickname!" Severus glared at me, his eyes clear with anger and frustration. I rolled my eyes and turned my attention back to the calm Headmaster who looked at Severus with a smile.

"When will Ms. Hellstrand arrive?" Dumbledore asked as he reached over his desk and popped a lemon drop in his mouth. I looked at the clock on the wall.
"She should be here now..." I stood up quickly. "I should go check if she is here." It was no secret that I was protective of Raven, after all, her parents never took care of her. I walked towards the door, but voices caused me to stop. It were two voices, both female and one belonging to Raven. I stepped back slightly, waiting for them to come inside.

Before I knew it, Raven walked inside with a girl with frizzy black hair, it reminded me of somebody... She was laughing while Raven awkwardly hid behind her, a small smile trying to form, but failing miserably. Raven wore a grey oversized hoodie as well as some skinny jeans, muggle clothes. Raven saw me and tried to walk over to me, but the girl grabbed her and pulled her into a giant bear hug. "Gah! What the hell are you doing?!" She hissed, trying to wriggle out of her grasp, her short height not helping at all. The girl smiled wickedly.

"I'm so happy that I found another friend!" She squealed happily, dropping Raven to the floor.

"Alright Raven! See you at the sorting!" The energetic girl walked out the room, a wide smile on her face and a mysterious glint in her eye. There was something about her...

"Bye... Judith." Raven mumbled before she looked down, a frown on her face. Albus looked amused at the actions of the girl named Judith.

"Hey Sirius." She greeted casually, walking over to me. I smiled and hugged her, though ot as intensely as the girl known as Judith. She gave an awkward hug back as she looked at Albus. I looked around for Severus, but he seemed to have disappeared. Did he go back into the shadows like a little bat?

"Hello Ms. Hellstrand. I am Albus Dumbledore, but you may address me as Headmaster." He stood up and reached out his hand to let Raven shake. She looked it his hand for a while, her eyes twitching, deciding whether to shake his hand or not. She finally shook his hand slowly and he smiled warmly.

I have to admit, Raven was a cautious girl, even when she was younger. With her situation with her parents, it's no wonder why she is cautious about the people she meets. I smiled slightly as Albus began to walk to a shelf where a ragged hat lay. I knew that hat all too well...

"Sirius..." She breathed, looking at me with worry. I gave an assuring smile.

"It's okay, you are being sorted into the four houses I told you about, remember?" She looks confused for a moment before realization hit her.
"Oh yea, Griffins, Hafflepaffs, Ravenclues, and Slytherins right?" I sigh and shake my head, stifling back a laugh at her mistakes.

"I'm slightly worried you only remembered the Slytherins." I chuckle and watch as Albus walks over to her, the sorting hat in his hand. "No honey, the names are Gryffindors, Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaws, and of course, Slytherins." I correct her and she laugh slightly.

"I know, I was just messing around." She confesses and I glare at her playfully. She gives a devious smirk and she turns her attention to Albus. He said nothing, but set the sorting hat on her head.

"I look ridiculous." She mumbles under her breath, almost not audible. I chuckle silently and watch as a face appeared on the sorting hat.

"Oh... A new one, eh? I can see many things happening in this one... She is very intelligent... She's can easily fit in Ravenclaw, but I see much more... Alright, hmh, ah, okay... SLYTHERIN!" The hat screamed loudly, causing Raven to flinch slightly. She glared at the hat as Albus took it off her head.
"Fucking hat..." She mumbled angrily.

"Language Ms. Hellstrand." Albus said calmly as he set the sorting hat back on the shelf.

"Sorry." She mumbled quietly, rubbing her shoulder.

"Raven, are you going to change into your robes?" I ask, leaning towards her. She looks down and frowns.

"God, I hate wearing those damn things." She mumbles before she takes out her wand and flicking it. Instantly, her green robes were on. I smiled and nodded in approval. All in all, Raven was pretty good with magic.

"Sirius, I believe that Ms. Hellstrand has to go to the feast." Albus looks over to Raven who was straightening her hair out, obviously worried about her looks. Raven has self confidence issues and she always doubts herself.

"I have to discuss some things with you Sirius." Albus gave me a serious look and I nodded my head slowly, already knowing what he was to talk about.

"Severus, may you escort Ms. Hellstrand to the Great Hall?" Albus motioned to the figure in the shadows. Severus walked out slowly, an emotionless expression on his face.

He nodded slowly before quickly walking out the door, Raven struggling to catch up with the little bat.
