Chapter five.

John lifted up his sleeping wife's  shirt and pressed a kiss to her belly

today was the day marlena had her first doctor's appointment since they found out she was pregnant.

their baby was calling all the shots, from what marlena ate to how much she slept.

Over the past week, john had noticed how marlena was starting to look a little glowy, and beautiful, and he loved every second of it.

"I love you.

John whispered quietly as he giving marlena's belly another kiss before moving up her body to kiss her lips.

And I love you.

John whispered to marlena.

Marlena's eyelids opened slowly, and she smiled against her husband's lips.

good morning.

John said as he brushed some waves of hair from her face.

Marlena wiped the sleep from her eyes.

Good morning.

Marlena said as she splayed her fingers over her stomach.

like she'd been doing nearly every minute of every day for a week.

Today's the day.

Marlena said to her husband

"I can't wait.

John said softlyas he lifted marlena's shirt up again.

He kissed around her belly button a few times.

"How many times have you kissed my stomach?.

Marlena asked her husband.

"Millions And I'm not stopping any time soon.

John replied.

Good.

Marlena said to her husband.

"How're you feeling today?, "Nauseous?, Hungry?.

John asked his wife.

I feel good, A little bloaty, but not too nauseous.

Marlena said as she looked down
at the still flat plane of her abdomen.

Marlena rolling over and spooning against her husband,

both of their hands finding their way to her belly like a magnet.

I love you.

Marlena whispered to her husband.

I love you, too.

John said as he kissed the back of his wife's head.

John and marlena arrived at the doctor's office.

they were taken back to an exam room.

marlena hopped up onto the table in her hospital gown.

The doctor entered the room, smiling at the two of them.

I'd like to do a quick pelvic exam, just to make sure everything is looking good, then we'll take a look at your baby.

We should be able to see the heartbeat today.

The doctor told them.

Okay.

Marlena said as she squeezing
john's hand in anticipation.

He squeezed back and didn't let go. This was a team effort.

John planned on being there every step of the way.
