Wednesday

"I'm 'bout nervous as hell." Khaza said aloud, speaking to himself. His mind had been all over the place since this morning. Today was the day that him and Aspen were to go on their date.

All day yesterday, he was running around like a chicken with his head cut off trying to finalize whatever events he had planned for them. He wanted everything to be perfect.

It kinda made him feel funny. Not funny weird but funny in a sense of the realization that he was really going all out for Aspen which wasn't a bad thing by no means.

The feeling of actually liking someone again didn't feel so foreign to him anymore. The last person Khaza ever showed a liking to was Reagan and that took a turn for the worst but Aspen bought a spark back in him.

"All these clothes I got and I can't find nothing to wear." He huffed, looking over the abundance of clothing. Regardless of the plethora of clothing he had, if Khaza couldn't find something to his liking then he considered it as not having anything to put on.

"Maybe if I paired this jacket with these shoes or maybe this shirt with these pants." He thought aloud, grabbing different pieces. "Nah that don't go together either." He sighed shaking his head.

Feeling defeated, Khaza sat on the edge of the bed, palming his face. What started out as something minor was beginning to become a problem. Then on top of being nervous wasn't good either.

While sitting on the bed, Khaza started second guessing his and Aspen's date. No he wasn't about to cancel on her but he was letting his nerves get the best of him. Just the night before he had a dream where Aspen was upset and crying over something Khaza did. He couldn't make out specifically what it was he had done but boy did it shake him a little.

Though it was just a dream, Khaza took it as a mental note, a sign if you will. It's true in certain cases that dreams are a way of telling you something. For Khaza he thought hard about how Aspen might not like what was planned for him and her and all of it would have been for nothing.

"Knock knock." Just then, snapping him out of his daze like trance, Khaza looked to his bedroom door to see Ezra peeking from behind the door. "I just came up here to let you know I'll be leaving in a few. That damn boss of mine scheduled me on my day off." Ezra groaned.

Khaza quietly nodded his head, not looking to Ezra, who picked up on that. "What's wrong Khaza?" He asked opening the door further, his eyes glanced over the gloomy expression written on his son's face.

Khaza still remained silent, fiddling around with the drawstring that hung from his basketball shorts. Alarmed, Ezra made his way further inside the room, copping a seat next to Khaza.

Usually when a child, regardless the age, ignores a parent, that's like a big no-no. Often times it's taken as a sign of disrespect or a purposeful act but because Ezra knows his child, he didn't see it as disrespect but rather something he might can lend a hand with. Especially when Khaza has never went out his way to intentionally ignore Ezra.

Without even having to say a word, Ezra had a pretty good idea about what was troubling Khaza. All he did was put two and two together. It was like on one of those old cartoon shows. Soon as something accurate hits the mind, DING! A light bulb appears on top.

"I see." Ezra spoke, letting out a light chuckle. " "You nervous ain't you?" Khaza looked to his father before adverting his gaze to the floor.

"What gave it away?" He responded.

"Child please. You got it written all over your face. And I know from experience what that nervous face looks like."

"Experience?" Khaza questioned with a raised eyebrow. "Don't tell me, you was shook like me with mama? Not you pops."
