After having Khaza drop her off, Aspen was now in the bedroom she shared with Angelo, packing away the rest of her things such as clothes, shoes, jewelry, feminine products, everything that she felt like she needed.
Luckily, the keys to her car were where she left them at which was on the key holder over by the television stand. Usually, Angelo would be petty and hide the keys from her, preventing her from leaving.
All Aspen could think about was the way Angelo violated her. It was not only hurtful but eye-opening at the same time.
She realized staying with someone as violent as Angelo was not good for her mentally or emotionally. Aspen decided that was her last straw, she couldn't fathom the thought of letting someone continue to tear her down with any form of abuse.
Though she cared for Angelo, it wasn't enough to make her change her mind about leaving him. She had to love herself way more this time.
With everything almost packed away, Aspen only had the last of her flat irons and curling irons to retrieve from the bathroom. She quickly darted to the bathroom that was across the hall, unplugging the hair utensils and rolling them up.
"Okay." She huffed, zipping up the turquoise suitcase. "I got that, got this, those are packed." Aspen mumbled, checking over the last of her things. She did want to forget anything because after today, she wouldn't be coming back.
"Oh, that money." Aspen thought, snapping her fingers. Unbeknownst to Angelo, Aspen had found out a couple months he was hiding a secret stash from her. She accidentally stumbled upon it while she was doing some spring cleaning.
It was about almost three thousand saved up. What Angelo did to get that extra money was something Aspen didn't know nor did she desire to know. One thing she did know was that would be her money to hold her over for the time being.
She didn't care if it was Angelo's. After all the drama and chaotic things her took her through, Angelo's wellbeing was the last thing on Aspen's mind.
Reaching for the yellow shoebox, Aspen pulled out the stack of money, removing it from the plastic ziplock bag. She then stuffed it inside her matching turquoise Marc Jacobs Tote bag, zipping it up.
With everything loaded up, Aspen grabbed the car keys to her Jeep and began to head out the door. But she soon was stopped in her tracks when Angelo came walking through the door, forcing her back in the bedroom.
"Going somewhere?" He asked, observing the luggage that Aspen was carrying. He stepped forward throwing his car keys on the television stand.
"I wasn't expecting you to be here, I thought you were at work." Aspen said not taking her eyes off him. She could see the anger in eyes despite how calm he was.
Angelo raised an eyebrow. "You would think that but that's not what I asked." He responded, scratching his chin. "You going somewhere or you think you going somewhere."
Aspen sighed. "Angelo please can you not do this. I don't wanna fight or argue, I just want to leave. Being with you is not healthy, you're not the same person anymore." She honestly told him.
"So you think I'm just supposed to let you leave? Where you gon' go huh? You ain't got nobody." He laughed causing Aspen to drop her head. "Your own family disowns you, you can't run to them."
"For you to throw that shit in my face regarding my family, that's fucked up." Aspen pointed. She was fuming mad that Angelo could say that to her knowing the situation with her people.
"And don't worry about where I'll go. What I do isn't any of your concern anymore Angelo. Don't you tell me that all the time when you out doing you?"
"Oh so what, you call yourself standing up to me?" Angelo smiled, as if this humorous. "You already know what I'll do to you so you might as well sit yo' ass down, unpack all that shit and shut-up cause you're not leaving." He demanded.
