SUMMER RAIN

Like summer rain, love can come to anyone at any time. Lovely and priceless, but unpredictable.

Porchay despises the summer. He dislikes the intense heat. He dislikes how sweaty he becomes after being in the hot sun for a while. He often spends summer in a cooler country, but now he's spending his summer in Bangkok because Porsche forced him to stay. His brother often whines about this hobby of his, so he decides to stay for his own peace. Now, he regrets that decision.

He wiped his sweat for the nth time that day, cursing under his breath as he suffered the heat. The car aircon is already in full blast. "Isn't this fun, Chay? Just you and me on a road trip." Porsche cheerfully said. He wasn't even bothered by heat, he even had his sunglasses and his flashy smile on.

"How can I enjoy this, Hia? It's so damn hot." Chay glanced quickly at the glaring sun before turning back to the road, "How can you stand this heat?" he muttered.

"Nong, it's summer. Of course, it's hot. You need to stop traveling every summer and stay here so you can get used to it." Porsche said. Chay rolled his eyes. Pretty sure he won't be spending another summer here. "Grandfather wants to see you too, Chay. That's why we are having this trip." Porsche added.

Chay sighed and rested his head on his headrest. Fine. He's doing this trip because his brother begged him and for his grandfather who wanted to see him. Damn heat. Damn summer. He just wants this season to end already.

"Oh Porchay, my grandson. I haven't seen you for so long, little one." The old Kittisawat greeted the two brothers. He hugged Chay as tightly as possible. He clearly missed him so much. "Obviously, you are not that little anymore," he said as he pulled himself away from Chay.

"Yes, Grandpa. I'm all grown up already." Chay claimed. He hasn't seen his grandfather for years.

"Well, you're still my little Chay-Chay." his grandfather told him. Chay just chortled. He looked around the old house. He can't deny that he missed this place. He used to spend their summer breaks here. Summer when he was young was fun. However, the older he gets, the hotter the summer gets. That's why he doesn't spend his summer here anymore.

"The house didn't even change a bit, Grandpa," Porsche spoke, settling their baggage inside the house. He also greeted his grandfather with a hug.

"I'm too old to have this house renovated, Porsche. Also, I don't want to be haunted by your grandmother's ghost in my dreams if I ever change something in this house. You know how much she adores this house." he said and laughed. The brothers just laughed with him.

Somehow, Chay can't shake this feeling of being watched. He looked around him, yet no one was there. He sighed, maybe it was just in his head. Or maybe the heat got into him, making him delirious. Nah, it will pass. Another strange thing, heavy clouds started to form in the cloudless sky. Looks like rain will be looming over anytime soon. He wishes it does because he doesn't know how long he can stand this heat.

"Damn it! It's so fucking hot." Chay cursed under his breath. He can't take this heat anymore. He's been staying in the house just for a few days, but the heat is so intense. His curtains were drawn, letting the fresh air in his room. Yet, the air is hot as well. Chay sighed frustratingly. He's been fanning himself non-stop because of this. "A little rain won't be that bad!" he screamed at the cloudless sky.

Almost instantly, it rained. A summer rain. Of course, it surprises Chay. He stared at the little raindrops pouring over his grandfather's farm. They are breathtakingly gorgeous. They are golden as the sun illuminates the tiny droplets. He can feel a gust of cool air brushed against his skin. Finally, a comfort in this summer heat.
