"Asleep or awake, I dream of you all the same."

"Oh, fuck this house," Chay muttered under his breath as he stared at the old house's facade. He doesn't understand why he needs to stay in this abandoned home. Chay is about to start at a university, but their family home is too far away from his school. Porsche remembered that they had an old house in the city that was near the university.

"Porchay, please. At least have respect in the house. It was Mom's childhood home." Porsche said as they pulled up their baggage–more like Chay's baggage. The downside is, that despite living in a huge house, it was shabby. No one lived on it for years after their mother moved out.

"I do respect it, Hia, because if I don't I could have it demolished. Have you seen this place? It's hideous and creepy. I won't wonder why no one lives here." Chay said. He looked at the house once more with a sour expression before looking back at his brother, "Do I really have to stay here, Hia? I thought you would live with me."

Porsche sighed, "Nong, we've talked about this. I have work to do, so I need to go back. I have a flight later in the afternoon. This house is nearer to your university than ours, that's why we are here." he said. "Just stay here. I'm pretty sure Mom would like you to have this house." Porsche said.

"I know, but I didn't know this would be the place I would stay in. If I had known, I could have rented a place somewhere," he complained. "It wasn't even named under Mom. We don't even know who these Theerapanyakuls are," he said. Porsche just patted his brother's back and went inside the house. Chay exhaled a defeated sigh before entering the home.

If the house was already hideous outside, it's way worse inside. Dust and cobwebs were everywhere. The floors creak in every step they take. There is an unhealthy amount of displays on the walls and tables. Disturbingly, there were a few bust heads lined up in the hallway. Well, what do they expect from a century-old house that has been abandoned for years?

"What a fixer-upper," Chay mumbled, enough for his brother to hear. Porsche eyed him disapprovingly, Chay just shrugged his shoulders in response. He fucking hates this house already.

"The cleaners will come tomorrow to take care of the house while you're out to enroll at the university, so don't worry about it. Just endure it for a night, Porchay." his brother said as they settled in a huge living room. "The water and electricity are already working, so that's a good thing."

Chay looked around the massive room and sighed once more, "You want me to live in this house alone?" he said, his voice coated in dissatisfaction. He walked around the living room, staring at every painting displayed against the wall. How could his Mom live in this house? He knows a wealthy family adopted his Mom, but that's all he knows. He had no idea what kind of family took care of her.

He could hear his brother talking behind him, but his mind wasn't paying attention to him at all. His attention was on the particular painting hanging on the wall. It was odd. Out of the multiple dirty displays, this one is clean. The frame is golden with an intricate floral design.

He could feel his heart beating with affection. His mind is confused. Where the hell are these feelings coming from? It was a painting of a gorgeous young man with long slicked-back black hair. He had a fair complexion and mischievous smile on his face that Chay already hated the moment he laid his eyes on him–or at least that was his mind telling him. There was a name engraved at the bottom frame.

Kimhan Theerapanyakul

1830 - 1854

Chay scoffed, "Even the name sounds like a jerk." he said. He stared at the painting longer, then his eyes widened when the painting winked at him. He screamed and ran back to his brother. "Did you see that?! Did you see that, Hia?!" he exclaimed in fear.
