It was the first night of Melbourne and Sage and I had to stay behind at the hotel because Sage had gotten sick the first night we arrived. Taylor was very hesitant on leaving her, but she really had no choice because she had a concert to perform and since I was here, I could take care of her.
After we took Sage to the emergency room around 6 AM because her fever wasn't going down, they informed us that she caught a flu, making our fears worsen. She has been cranky ever since and also has been wanting Taylor by her side and not being able to have her caused her to break down in even more tears.
"Baby, can you open your mouth? You need to take your medicine" I informed her holding the medicine cup up to her lip and she shook her head. We have been mixing it with some apple juice, so I carefully set her down and grabbed a sippy cup that we brought just in case and shook the cup.
"Here baby" I say as I hold the mouth of the cup to her lip and she accepts it while her eyes were still closed. I looked at the time and Taylor should have just gotten on stage by now. I continued to rock Sage in my arms, she felt so warm so she was just in a pair of shorts.
I was getting constant text messages from Tree asking for constant updates of Sage per Taylor's request and I was shocked about how many I was getting. I would think that Taylor barely had any time, but it was like she had her phone on stage from how fast they were coming in.
"D-Daddy" Sage whimpers against my chest and lets out a cough. I gently pat her back and she tries to lean up straight in my arms, but fails and falls limp again. It felt like she was getting worse than better and that made me stress even more.
I walked us over to the living room and stood by the window, looking out to the beautiful night lights of Melbourne. I felt beads of sweat fall from her forehead and I went to grab a cold wet cloth to put over her. When I placed the cloth onto her head, I felt her shiver, but let out a sigh of relief.
Taylor informed me that she would race back as fast as she could right after the show, but I didn't want her to panic so much because she has to perform again tomorrow. I had gotten dinner delivered up to the room and as much as I tried to feed Sage, she just wasn't hungry and just struggled to get a good sleep. I held her in my lap as I tried my best to eat my dinner, which was for a short time since she didn't like the position I was in and kept moving around.
"I want Mommy" Sage cries as she buried her head farther into my chest. I bounced her in my arms, hushing in her ears.
"Mommy will come back soon baby" I whispered and she shook her head in annoyance.
I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and saw that I was getting an incoming call from Tree.
"Hey, Taylor's freaking out right now because you aren't messaging back fast enough apparently, how is she?" Tree says into the phone making me chuckle because I forgot to reply back.
"Well, she isn't doing any better. Right now she's sleeping and tell Taylor that Sage will be waiting for her after the concert" I tell her.
"Poor baby, okay, we'll make sure to leave as soon as we can" Tree exclaims and we hang up.
I go back into the bedroom and turn off the lights. I lay Sage down in the middle of the bed, causing her to let out a scream as she frantically reached for me and I quickly got her back into my arms as I slid underneath the covers and held her against my chest. I pulled the covers over both of us and then grabbed the air conditioner controls to make it cooler in here.
"Shhh, you're going to be okay" I whisper into her ears, kissing her rosy cheeks. I continued to rub her back as she let out little snores and sniffles and I closed my eyes, hoping to get some rest.
