We all get in our cars and drive to the police station, Nancy and I get there first. We walk up to Karen, "Nancy, Skylar" She says
"I need to talk to you about the Lucy Sable case" Nancy says
"This isn't a good time" Karen says
"I have new evidence that points to a different suspect in Lucy's murder. It could help exonerate my dad, and if you ever cared about him at all, then you'll give us five minutes" Nancy says
"Okay, come on" She says
We walk into the Chief's office, "Late August in 2000. These emails prove that Ryan and Lucy planed to meet the night she died. He told me he was at boarding school that night" Nancy says
"There was no official reason to look at Ryan Hudson" Karen says
"And unofficially?" I ask
"She was your best friend, Karen" Nancy says
"Unofficially, I'd say, if someone wanted to check out Ryan's alibi, she might look at alumni from his boarding school. Roommates, maybe" Karen says
"I'll let you know what I find" Nancy says
We walk out and Nancy stops to look at her phone, searching for alumni. Then we start to walk out when we run into Owen, "Awesome" I whisper as Nancy says, "Oh, hi"
"Hi, I heard about what happened last night" He says
"I'm fine, not even a black eye this time" She says
"Yeah, did they find the guy?" He asks
"No, not yet. I don't know if you're here to volunteer for the manhunt..." She says
"Actually, I'm just here to make sure you're okay" He says
I roll my eyes, "I appreciate that, but we actually need to get going" She says
She walks by him and so do I, "Sounds urgent" He says
"Yeah, we are trying to track down this Biotech CEO in Portsmouth, New Hampshire: Chad Vogel" She says
"You confronting another murderer?" He asks
"Confirming the alibi of someone who may or may not be one" She says
"Hey, you want some company? Get there faster in the carpool lane" He asks
I roll my eyes, "I think we got this handled" I say
"We don't have carpool lanes in Maine" She says
"Well, then maybe I can help you get in the door somehow. I mean, look at me. I speak CEO" He says
She looks at me and he jingles his keys, "I pick the playlist" She says
Great, hours in the car with my crush and the guy that likes her. We get in the car, of course, I'm in the back. I try my best to just put my AirPods in my ears and act like I'm fine with this.
Hours later
We get to the building and Owen helps us get a meeting with Chad, "Kind of a long drive to New Hampshire. You hungry? We can stop by the cafeteria, the chef makes a killer sous vide octopus" Chad says
"Oh I'm good thank you" Owen says
"Traveling with two assistants that's a baller move" Chad says
"Oh, no, um..." Owen says
"Yes, we are Mr. Marvin's assistants" Nancy says
"Okay, so you're thinking of absorbing Hudson Enterprises?" Chad asks
"I can rely on you to be discreet?" Owen asks
"Bro, totally. Hudsy and I were in the stew together. That's what we called our dorm at Eddings Hall" Chad says
