Chapter 15

Suddenly there is a knock on the door, "Oh" Bess whispers

"Maybe they'll go away" Nick whispers

But there's more knocking, "Shit" I whisper

We all quickly get up, they stand in front of the body trying to keep it covered. I go to answer the door to see the coroner, "Where is she?" He asks

"Where's who?" I ask innocently

Then I look down, "Oh is that your son? He looks just like you" I say

"Yeah, my wife was supposed to take him, but then she had a floral emergency. I don't have time to explain myself, where's Nancy?!" He asks walking in

I scoff, "Oh, by all means come in!" I say sarcastically

He sees the body, "What the hell?" He asks

"Leo, stay where you are" He says

Then the door opens and Nancy walk through, "Nancy, is there a bad guy in your kitchen?" Leo asks her

"Leo, what are you doing here?" She asks

"Are you all you of your minds? What made any of you think this was okay?" He asks

Nancy walks over, "Hey..." She says

"I leave you alone in the morgue for 2 minutes. I check on body 670 an hour later, it's gone. Last thing on the security camera was you pushing boxes in front of the lens. You have a serious problem. I'm calling the police" He says and walks past Nancy

"Uh, to tell them what?" She asks

She looks at him, "That you left a proven burglar alone doing her community service in a morgue, against protocol? Giving her, clearly, plenty of time to take a murder victim home? I mean, that couldn't possibly be good for your career" She says

I smirk, Damn that was hot, "Ugh...you stay out of my way. I'm getting the gurney" He says and walks out

I walk over to Nancy, "That was hot" I whisper in her ear

I pull back smirking as she turns to face me, heat rising to her cheeks, "Now what?" Nick asks

Connor takes the body and leaves so we start cleaning up, "So..." Bess starts

"If you say, is game night back on? I'm gonna propel myself through a window" George says

I chuckle, "Okay. But is game night back on?" Bess asks

Nancy walks in, "I owe you a new sponge" Ace says

He squeezes the sponge full of blood, "That blood looks fresh" Nancy says

"But Body 670 was in the ground for days. What kind of...corpse bleeds like that?" Nick asks

I look at Nancy and see she knows something, "One that isn't dead anymore" She says

We all look at her, "What?" I ask

"We need to go now" She says

I get in Nancy's car and the others follow behind us. I keep trying to call Connor, "Connor's still not answering" I say

She keeps driving and I keep trying to call him. After a few minutes, we finally catch up to them. We get out of the car quickly, "What now? Are you following me? Hey!" Connor says

We quickly run to the van right when the body roars at Leo then it disappears.

Later on

"Okay, no sign of Body 670. Ace, can you get your hands on your dad's police scanner, maybe?" Nancy asks
