Nia and Kara finished writing their book a few months back and it came out a few weeks before and much to their surprise it became an instant bestseller. Mars bound: Stronger Together
Nia insisted on naming the book 'Six Useless Queer Women Go To Mars', but it was denied and she and the fans agreed that in their hearts that would be the only true name.
After the Landing Lena and her mother started to reconnect and to build their bond from the ground up. Now they are closer than ever. It had been a shock to them all to learn that Eliza and Lillian had become friends while their children were on Mars.
Maggie and Vasquez had grown closer over the year and had been dating for about 6 months.
Sam and Alex had their wedding ceremony 3 months back. It was a small intimate ceremony nestled in a quiet garden, surrounded by their closest friends and family with Ruby being the ring bearer. Nia posted a few pictures and the media and all the Danvarias shipper had gone feral over them.
All in all... they were all happy.
They were all still working at NASA. Maggie and Nia decided on continuing their career as astronauts, while the other four settled on staying grounded.

Kara and Lena had been living together since the moment they landed back on earth.
That night, wen Kara walked into their shared bedroom, she found Lena sitting infront of the big window staring outside and watching the moon, deep in thought.
It was still Karas favourite view. It didn't matter if she was looking at the stars, Earth; Mars the Moon, a sunset or just the vast emptiness of space. To Kara, it was Lena who made the sight utterly stunning.
"Marry me"
It wasn't planned, Kara didn't even have a ring or anything, she just saw her sitting there and knew that she needed to see her like that for the rest of her Life. Kara knew in this moment that Lena was her one.
Lena was Karas Forever Girl.
It had just come out of Karas mouth, but these two words had been the best impulsive decision she ever made.
Lena head turned towards Kara in lightspeed. Lena met Karas eyes, needing to see the sincerity behind them, behind the statement.
"Marry me... please?" Kara repeated as she moved closer to Lena. Kara sounded firmer than before but she managed to make it sound more like a question and less like a demand.
Lena was starstruck, she couldn't find her words. Her mouth was agape and she just stared at Kara for a few more seconds, but she quickly caught herself again.
Lena's smile was everything Kara was going to remember about this moment. Lena looked up at her and said with a sly tone in her voice "I'm still not sure that was a question but the answer is yes anyway."
They were in each other's arms in seconds and their lips connected, fitting perfectly on top of each other just like the first time they've kissed.
---
On their wedding day, Sam and Alex surprised them with a big framed Photo they'd never seen before – Sam had taken it without them knowing:
It was Kara and Lena, from a distance, sitting on their rock back on Mars, capturing the first time they'd kissed, with the Sun setting behind them, which painted the sky in the most beautiful colours.
