Seth's POV

I slowly came to her side. Her smile looked amazing. "Hey, nice to see you." I smiled and stood by her side.

"Hi, I'm Cynthia," She smiled even brighter. Her scent reminded me of a vampire, and when she smiled bigger, so I saw her teeth. I knew it had to be true. She's a vampire.

I didn't care if she was a vampire, fully or partly. She's pretty cool to me. "I'm Seth, the newest, bestest, and brightest of the pack."

She chuckled at my words. "You are? So should I say that I'm half-vampire then?" She talked like that was meant to tease me.

I laughed at her words, too. But I knew already that the rest of the pack didn't care for her being here.  Their thoughts didn't sound so happy about her being here. One whistled to call me back, but I didn't care to listen.

A couple of them changed into their wolf form. Clothes ripped at the aggressive change from human to wolf form. I knew that I needed to pull Cynthia away from them because they were getting mad.

They were catching her scent and getting upset. I might be a one-person army on this, but I'll keep her safe. My feet moved closer to where she stood. My eyes watched over them to watch and make sure they didn't try to strike.

A vampire on our turf isn't something they're cool with, so I took her hand and walked with her. I pulled her away from the pack, away from the danger.

"Where are we going, Seth?" She looked around quickly after seeing the pack's outburst. Her guard is up, and it'll take a bit to get it to crumble.

I wouldn't blame her; I would be like that, too, if I were in her shoes. "To a pond, we can skip stones. Do you want to do that?" I glanced over my shoulder before looking at her.

"Sure, but I don't think I've ever done that before." She smiled at me sweetly.

"I can show you." I picked up a handful of rocks off the pond's bank. My hands quickly picked for the smooth ones. "Here, just throw one into the water. Give it a go."

I wanted to make her happy. Seeing her feel nervous or scared by any means didn't sit right with me. This is the first thing I thought of.

(Y/N)'s POV

I kept a close eye on Seth and Cynthia. It's like they clicked with each other like magnets. They laughed and joked together a little ways away from everyone. Sitting on a large flat rock beside a pond, skipping stones together, they would laugh and cheer for each other.

"You're watching them pretty close." Bella's voice caught my attention. She sat beside Jacob, holding his hand.

"Oh, yeah. Um...it's just how often do two people get along so fast like that. They're like two love birds over there." My eyes flicked between her and Cynthia and Seth.

"I promised my aunt to keep my niece safe and all that." I lied, but I could feel my face burn in embarrassment.

"Don't worry about it. It's natural for him." Jacob seemed amused as he looked over to the new couple.

"Natural for what? Is there something that you're not telling me?" I raised an eyebrow.

"It's just a thing with us." Jacob trailed on without saying much more like he didn't want to say it outright.

"Thing? Care to tell me what this thing is?" I leaned into the conversation more. "She might be a little naive, so I need to look out for her, okay?"

"You don't need to worry about it, and it's a secret. You'll have to figure it out on your own." Jacob left the table after one of the boys called for him.

I sighed and combed my fingers through my hair. "Bella, do you know? And as your best friend, would you tell me?" I looked at her through my eyebrows.

I know I'm being overprotective and like a mother hen, but I didn't want to risk her getting hurt. And after being left in the dark about so many things, it overflowed. She's like a daughter to me despite being only three years younger than I am.

With no one telling me anything about this besides figuring it out myself, I grew frustrated. I waited on Bella to say to me, something, anything at all.

"Sorry...I...can't tell you. I swore not to tell." She broke the tension between us, and I only grew more annoyed.

"Damn it..." I mumbled under my breath. "Bella, I told you about Edward and Cynthia. Why not?" I whispered to her.

"All that I can tell you is that it's normal. Seth won't hurt Cynthia. He wouldn't even dream of it." Bella whispered back to me. It only served to soothe the nerves and frustration a touch, like a cup of water on a fire bigger than life.

"Thanks, I guess," I mumbled and rested my chin on my hand. My eyes stayed on the two to make sure nothing bad happened.

Edward wouldn't talk to me on the phone for the past month or so since he's been gone. I worried about him every day because all I could do was assume with no feedback. Hope is stretching thin with all the secrets.

I might as well have been blindfolded with how often that I'm left in the dark. Edward is not talking at all. Cynthia is distracted by a boy that she fell in love with at first sight. No one will tell me what the thing is with Seth. The Cullens wouldn't even explain the danger that they could be in if people found out what they were.

It grew more frustrating by the day as people left me oblivious. Not even a clue is being shared with me on what's going on.
